Francesca Marciano is indeed my favorite writer. After discovering her in Rules of the Wild, I am so lucky to have found another title of hers, Casa Rossa. I am so interested in her writings that I immediately started off with this book after purchasing it.

I consider Francesca Marciano as a high-caliber author. Her language is very intelligent and very real. Her kind of writing is what young adults need nowadays – the kind of writing that enlightens and feeds the aggressive, curious,...more

This book drew me right in- I think because of my love of Italy. The characters are all flawed and thus real. The life of every one of them so very different from my own experience, but so fascinating. I went online to read more about the author and found this interview at an equally interesting website.

Casa Rossa- passion, mystery, family, betrayal, loyalties, and through it all, the beauty of southern Italy.

Very moving, very raw story of a family over 3 generations, but the first two are not too detailed, as everything is told by the grand-daughter, who doesn't have all the information, a bit like in real life, which makes the story even more poignant.

Family drama set in Italy. I enjoyed the story of all the characters except one. The book goes way too deep into the story of the sister and her political issues. Took me a while to get through it.

Great read for Italy. There were all kinds of references to the places we were staying, foods we were eating, things we were experiencing.

One of the longest books I've read recently (not inn page length, but time it took to get through it!). Seemed to drag.

Socialist revolutionaries in contemporary Spain and the after effects on relationships. Disturbing but well written.

Read 116 pages and don't feel like finishing. Where is this going? Who are these people? Why do I care?

This is such a sad story! It breaks my heart. If you're up for some drama, Casa Rossa is your friend.

I honestly tried getting into this book, but it was so slow. I read about 100 pages and decided that I didn't really care what had happened to any of the characters. They all had annoying features, that if in reality, probably wouldn't bug me, but since I had so much time with them, it was all I could focus on. I loved the romance of the Italian setting, but that was about it.

another beautiful and sweeping story akin to rules of the wild. perhaps a bit more complex and emotionally evoking. it wont change your life in any way, but it's a lovely little weekend read, something you could bring on a plane that will happily distract you from flying. and allow you to expand your imagination and get carried away into someone else's drama.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book that is graced with good writing, well-developed characters, and real sense of place. The story spans generations of a family and is both dramatic and fatalistic (... which are qualities often associated with southern Italy).

Great intergenerational southern Italian family saga with a really intense sister rivalry conflict at its heart. And then all the Italian details. Learned about extremist Communist groups in the 1970's.

I loved this book. I like long family dramas. The lifestyles in this book seem real, not driven by pop culture.
