This beautiful collection of short stories follows the author's life, from a child in inter-war Hungary, through World War II and Soviet occupation, to the author's immigration and life in the United States. I am not normally a fan of short stories, but these were very well-written, touching, and infused with a Christian sensibility. The author was also able to put them together into a coherent story, not a full-length novel per se, but not a completely disconnected collection of stories either.
