Although Major Gause isn't my "hero", it was very interesting to read his journal! Major Gause was a pilot during WWII - he was sent to battle against the Japs in Corregidor, was captured on Bataan(I believe), escaped, and traveled by boat with his friend all the way from the Phillipine Islands to Australia!
Remarkable story, well told. This is why they call them the greatest generation.
Unbelievable story of fearless American!
