Midnights with the Mystic: A Little Guide to Freedom and Bliss
Constructed around a series of late night conversations around a camp fire between Cheryl Simone and Sadhguru Vasudev on an Island in the middle of a Western North Carolina lake near her mountain home, "Midnights with the Mystic" is the most thorough exposition of the teachings of India's most sought after mystic. Sadhguru challenges us to embrace the possibility

I have lost count at the number of times I've read this book. I've given away almost as many copies in my travels across the US for work. The words, anecdotes and wisdom are NOT just for the spirituality-minded lot; not just for the elite few fortunate enough to have their own lake house and private island with which to host an Indian Guru for a week's time; a true realised human being. This book contains information for ALL of us; for the masses. Simple, to the point and sometimes cutting; ...more

I'm not totally sure what to say about this one. It was a bit of a slow read for me, and it wasn't just because I was thinking through the points made. I really enjoyed the segments where she reported the stories and teachings of Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev, and those had (and still have) me thinking deeply about a whole variety of life issues and realities. The thread that wove them together, however, was composed of Cheryl's stories and memories, as well as the day to day happenings that occurre...more
Having been lost and searching for a long time myself, it was very easy to relate to Cheryl’s struggle to find inner peace. I too had gone from one teacher to another in hopes of finding what was missing within me.
Cheryl found the path that was right for her. This book was wonderfully written.

In Midnights with the Mystic: A Little Guide to Blissful Living, Cheryl Simone illustrates the Indian spiritual guru’s teaching and philosophy in beautiful undertones. Unlike previous publications espousing Sadhguru’s workshops and teachings, this book is devoid of too much jargon. Instead, her personal experiences and struggle to simply embrace the mystical and mythical are welcoming elements to cynical readers.

In Midnights with the Mystic, Cheryl Simone shares her spiritual journey. As a young child, a classmate died which led Cheryl to ask questions about mortality. As a college student she, like many others, tried to expand her mind using LSD. While she had some intriguing experiences, she only saw death in that path. So for years, she looked for the “right” way to reach enlightenment but had little success.

I really enjoyed this book. It was a fast read and very pleasurable. If you are out searching, then this is a must read book for you.
I think Cheryl is very relate able, and a lot of people will understand exactly what she is talking about.

Hmmm... some interesting thoughts. But... zzzz.
I am just starting to investigate books about spirituality but I am finding most perspectives too self-helpy or egomanicial. Anyone have a recommendation? I am open to any religion or theory - just trying to mature and organize my feelings :) Someone recommended "Four Agreements" - thoughts?

Will read again. Most of my "Ah ha" moments happened in the last half of this book. It'a keeper.
The book started out pretty interesting and slowly digressed into a marketing piece for Sadhguru. Disappointing.
Enjoyed this book very much. Would love to travel to India and attend a class at the Isha Foundation.
Very interesting perspective and enjoyable.
An interesting exposure to the story of a real life Yogi / Mystic and how anyone could gain access to him and his practices
This is a great book about a memorable experience with a man like no other, Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev. Those who have met him worship him, sensing a great awakening around him. With his deeper understanding of love and emotions he is like most mystics, able to lead us to the unspeakable. Cheryl Simoni translates in clear and unique speech, words that already moved the soul of many persons wondering who we are, and what we are here for.
A great primer for Inner Engineering Class. I was also intrigued by this review: Capricious Yogi: Book Review | Midnights with the Mystic: A Little Guide to Freedom and Bliss by Cheyl Simone
This was an interesting and easy read. Gives you some ideas you may want to explore further but it really threw a lot at you so nothing was very well defined. I guess if you are on a path where you are searching for something this book may speak to you.
Such a truly inspiring read. Sadhguru is an amazing being and I hope to learn more about this amazing human.
I saw this guru speak last month. The book answered a lot of questions in a very practical way.
