This is a mystery thriller.
Medical mystery/thriller.

It was an OK read, had everything you would expect from a medical thriller, however, I just couldn't keep up with all the "cast" there were far too many people in this book it was like one big line up of people.

Imagine a big huge line up of people you are being introduced to, by the time you got to 10 [in my case around 5] you would need to go back to the beginning of the line up again or at the least, get a note pad and paper out and stick la

2.0 out of 5 stars -- Attempt at medical thriller reads more like a soap opera. This novel, which apparently is supposed to be the first of a new series featuring Paramedic Ana Ashmore, is very predictable, has no suspense, and suffers from way too much romantic ridiculousness to be taken seriously as a mystery. Though it has, at its heart, an ethically questionable situation involving uterine organ transplantation, the medical science aspect took a back burner to melodrama. The perils and ...more

Unfaithful spouses, greedy doctors who care more for their professional success than about their patients, and couples desperate to have a baby of their own. Unethical medical procedures, evil practices, and murder disguised as suicide. Although the characters and their actions sound like the Mafia at work, everything takes place in a prestigious hospital by well-known medical professionals. It's enough to make a reader vow never to schedule an appointment with a doctor and never to allow ...more

An e-book copy was provided in exchange for a review.

Belinda Frisch does not hold back. The action starts from the first pages of this book to the very end.

The story starts when Detective Mike Richardson answers a call of a body being found at a motel. Upon reaching his destination, he finds that this is no ordinary call, for he knows the deceased quite well. And it spirals downward from there, when the sister of the deceased, Anne, a paramedic answers the call as well.

I was impressed with this book. The character list never assumed I am dumb and could lose the thread due to more than two people in the cast.
The pace was fast and relentless always driving forward.
The story was fun, entertaining.
I wont go so far as to say I could not put the book down but I came pretty close to it.
So if a medical mystery thriller is your cuppa, then I recommend this book. It is well written, well edited and in the end it did what I want from a book. It gave me the escape from

I received "Fatal Reaction" free through Goodreads First Reads. This book deals with organ transplants in a new light. We see a doctor who has no scruples, hospital admins who do not know what is going on in their wards, and law enforcement officers trying to solve mysteries with their hands tied by unethical medical personnel. I finished this novel quickly because I simply could not put it down!

I won an ARC of this book through GoodReads, first-reads giveaway. Thank you so much.

Love the eye-catching cover! Very much enjoyed this medical, murder mystery that went along at just the right pace and kept me reading. The subject of the story is certainly different than anything I've ever come across before. Good character interaction, well-written, interesting and exciting.

This was an excellent book. I really enjoyed that it was very captivating and suspenseful. It is the best medical thriller that I have read in a long time.

I really only half enjoyed this book. Whilst the plot was very interesting, I couldn’t see past the predictable character dynamics and the poorly executed drama that littered the pages of ‘Fatal Reaction.’
The blurb looked really promising and, to give the book credit, the story did live up to its description. Paramedic Ana Ashmore is devastated when she learns that her sister Sydney has killed herself - but not only is she heartbroken, she is also suspicious and confused; why would Sydney commi

A slow night shift takes a turn for the absolute worst when Paramedic Anneliese Ashmore happens upon the scene of her sister, Sydney's, apparent suicide. Sydney was strong, Sydney was a survivor. Ana knows in her heart that suicide is something her older sister would never contemplate. The crime scene seems perfect, too perfect, and Ana takes it upon herself to work outside the law and do her own investigation. As she delves deeper into the rabbit hole, she'll discover a trail of lies, deceit, ...more

Paramedic Ana Ashmore happens upon a crime scene and figures she’ll lend a hand, even though she wasn’t called to the scene. What she finds is beyond belief. Her sister Sydney has died of an apparent suicide. But Ana doesn’t believe that’s really what happened since Sydney had everything to live for after recently beating cancer. A little digging around uncovers some interesting facts. Not only was Sydne

The murder of a cancer survivor in a cheap hotel is made to look like an OD. She’s the sister of the main protagonist, a female EMT who blunders into the scene before anyone can stop her, and continues to do so throughout the book.
The premise is intriguing; being no medical expert, I don’t know if uterine transplant is a reality, but it’s used here to show how arrogant and self-serving the main baddie is. The writing style is fine, the characters well-developed. But while the story is for the mo

I liked the premise of this book, but soon became overwhelmed by the veritable flood of characters who were not dissimilar enough to keep sorted as the mystery deepened. While there were a number of strong scenes (the escape, for example), there were also some peripheral and even main characters and plot elements that were not red herrings so much as loose ends that were never tied back. The title hints that this will be a series featuring Ana Ashmore, but she is just one of a multitude of ...more

I was given a free copy of Fatal Reaction from NetGalley for an honest review and this is my review.I enjoyed the plot and storyline of this book but for me it was told by too many perspectives. I was getting lost at times trying to keep who each person was separate so I could keep track of what was going on. For me one or two perspectives are enough when you add more then that it information overload that could be given without adding all these other main voices to the mix to add confusion.I ...more

This book was great! I loved Julia Farmer interpretation of the book. She did well with just a slight change in her voice and you could tell who she was reading for with each character.
I work in the health field so the authors knowledge was great on this topic as well. I think she has done her research. The book was a great mystery and I enjoyed the story line and I would read/listen to more books from both Belinda Frisch and more narrated by Julia Farmer. I have listened to a few other books bu

I stopped reading somewhere after 80 %. This reads like an episode of "General Hospital". Although it does begin with a murder. Book gives away the killer far to quickly in the story line. I knew who was killer far before it was reveled. The story just did not have any substance. From the beginning I was pretty bored with how it read. I kept forcing myself to keep going, but at a point- why ? Maybe it's just me since book had some high reviews. I gave it 2 stars out of 5. I would have given it ...more

This book kept me hooked from the beginning to the end. I really enjoyed the main character and her strength. Awesome mystery and suspense. Could not put it down...I Listened to it in one sitting. My only complaint was with the narrator. She was good...but very hard at times to differentiate between characters. Over all...very pleased though. :) High

It had a different approach in which I presumed it to be a murder mystery, but I enjoyed reading this novel. The characters were well explained & the main subject was introduced in the beginning to make sense. There was a lot of drama going on in the storyline as well. I had to go back and forth to figure out what's happening with each individuals situation. Overall, the author did a great job of portraying a creative story.

Fatal Reaction has a good storyline and premise though I didn't find it to be much of a murder mystery. The plot wasn't dramatic or developed enough. There was no depth to the plot or to the characters. There is a big cast of characters but even the major ones didn't have much going for them. Even with this large cast I was able to figure out the mystery and the culprit. No real surprises, twists, drama, or mystery.
Amy Peck

It's well written but the plot wasn't well developed and the "mystery" just wasn't mysterious enough. There were an awful lot extraneous characters that were hard to keep track of. The author should included their titles (Dr. Smith, Officer Jones, Nurse Johnson, etc) or full names when referring to them to make it easier for the reader. As it was, they weren't potential suspects, only distractions.

The plot of this book is good so many lives intertwined. This did remind me of a soap opera. I liked the fact not much along the lines of

graffic sex. I've never thought of this procedure,

The narration was very good.

A page-turning read about a transplant program gone wrong. Greed, loss, lust, betrayal, and revenge all factor into this medical thriller. I enjoyed the author's crisp writing style and had trouble putting the book down. I look forward to checking out her other novels.
