A posthumous collection from the author chiefly known for Under the Volcano, and one of the Penguin classics I rescued from my dad's collection. I've never read any Lowry before so I had no real idea what to expect. The first story did not bode well - a couple walk into a park and repeat each other's dialogue. Some nice writing, but the story goes nowhere. This was followed by a novella, 'Through the Panama Canal', and this was, surprisingly, excellent. Sigbørn Wilderness, a writer based on Lowr ...more
