Western historical romance with a bounty hunter that randomly helps a young unmarried mother when she has a bad burn accident. There is a series of seriously wicked guilt tripping that unfolds over the first few chapters as the bounty hunter, Chad Delaney tries to get help for Sarah Temple and her five year old bastard young son, Abner, but no one from her family or the community can or want to help her. She has been totally rejected and ruined by her own family because she got pregnant without ...more

The one star is mainly for the quality of writing. I can't shake the feeling this was written for high school girls by a high school girl. There was too much repetitiveness. Sarah doesn't trust men. Chad doesn't want to be weighed down by responsibilities. Okay, I get it. This doesn't have to be repeated every five pages. The two main characters both have so much baggage they might as well hire a porter. Ultimately they decide all their problems can be solved by dropping trou and going at it lik ...more

Recommends it for: Historical Romance Western Readers
This is book #2 of the Delaney Brother's Trilogy and I enjoyed it. The setting is Montana, 1880, and Chad Delaney is a bounty hunter who rides into town one night and rescues Sarah's son from a group of kids that were attacking him. Sarah was raped, became pregnant as a result and her wealthy family disowned her. She struggled to raise her son, by doing laundry, sewing, etc while the town people shunned her.

Chad, a professed loner, startles her while she is doing laundry and she scalds both her

I like Chad and Sarah story...

What Sarah had to go through back then as an unwed mother was a tear jerker, how her family treated her alone was bad...

I love this story and the family as a whole and i can't forget little Abner he is just the cutess thing, if you know what to expect from connie mason then this is for you, again i must say this on my connie mason reviews the love scenes are just crazy there isn't a dull moment when you are reading a connie mason love scene

I didn't realize this was a trilogy and have not read the first book. I really did not like Sarah or her character/story. I felt like chad deserved so much more. Sarah seemed like a bitter woman. I also think she acted more like a immature child toward the end. Really ridiculous how she wouldn't listen to anyone. I love Connie mason but don't recommend this book.

The book description - doesn't belong with this book. Someone has made a mistake. Change to one of the other editions to get the real book description. The Delaney Trilogy about ranchers.

Not my favorite. There is a convoluted section of the book when she is kidnapped that was kind of like a detour from the main story for me.
