English pirate Morgan Scott capture the ship that Luca, an aspiring Spanish nun being forced to marry, is on.

I have fond memories of this book, and when I returned to read it, it still holds up. What's great about this book is that even when Morgan is being domineering and distrustful, he is never cruel or spiteful. Even with his hatred of Spaniards, he always treats Luca well; the worst he does is be neglectful. I was a little frustrated with the many obstacles that were constantly blocking the

Recomendadisima.

I admit I gave up on this about page 70. There were way too many historical inaccuracies that kept pulling me out of the story and I was repelled by Morgan's protracted deliberations over whether or not he should rape Luca. I read this to find out what pirate romance novels were like so I would have a better idea of what category my own pirate novel will be in. (Based on this, mine won't be a romance novel.) So this book served its purpose. Now I don't have to finish it.

It's hard to know the characters well -- except that they don't like each other much! Morgan was crude & hateful to her and had this big vengeance against the Spanish thing.

If I were her, I'd have high-tailed it outta there when he left me in the country -- where no one else seemed to like her either ... frustrating.

I honestly ended up skimming most of this book. It was just absurd. There were way too many sexy scenes that meant nothing because the characters were unrealistic and the plot was just downright crazy.
