Bitter Virgin, by Kusunoki Kei, really opened my eyes to how the real world can be like. Aikawa Hinako comes off as a "pretend virgin" to Suwa Daisuke, because she freaks out if a male comes even close to her. Suwa Daisuke is a "ladies man" of his high school, and he said he would date anyone except for Aikawa. However, after he found out her secret of being raped by her step-father and getting pregnant by him twice, he finds himself thinking of her more and more. He winds up saving her from lif...more
I read it yesterday, after having seen it appear again and again in my recommendations, after having read so many positive reviews, I finally decided to give it a try, and I have to say I'm rather disappointed.
Not because of the series itself, rather because of the reviews which led me to have great expectations which - in four books - couldn't be satisfied.
I don't really know how to explain it, but as I was going through the pages, I had the impression something was off. It's frustrating not...more

So I finished reading this like a few minutes ago and it was all right. For the overall series, I give it two stars.
I gave it two stars because there wasn't anything like really amazing about it. It was just Okay. Plus, I didn't really like the art that much.
The ending was really cheesy. The characters were really cheesy. The whole concept of the story was kind of sad but nothing really made it original. Which could have made it better, if it had something to the plot that made it the same clich...more

Reading this series was like having a tooth pulled; painful but in a good way. Based around the author's experience of having a stillborn child, it is the most mature and touching manga I've ever read. It is definitely worth checking out.
www.onemanga.com has a well translated version available to read on the web and all four volumes are there.

The title caught my eye and the lovely blue cover (I'm a sucker for pretty pictures). The art is very detailed, the backgrounds and clothes have a lot of texture to them. The story is mediocre. Chapter 1-5, kept repeating Aikawa's (who is in middle school) abuse and abortion, like it's possible to forget something that horrific. Daisuke assuming he understands what Aikawa is thinking and feeling, which leads to misunderstandings. Maybe in later volumes, Aikawa healing with Daisuke's help will be...more

I quit this series after probably the first two chapters because I thought it sucked... That was maybe a year ago? I don't know.. Whatever, I returned to it and then finished it nearly one sitting. I thought it was good, and the girl was sweet, but I think I was looking for a bit more of a broken protagonist. She warmed up to the guy almost uncharacteristically, but I guess not all abused kids are broken shells of the people they once were. I'm surprised her personality was not as warped as it c...more

love dit
I don't really remember how it went. All I remember was that I felt depressed after reading it. A person's past is very dark. Indeed. I don't like the art.
