Recently widowed, young Kyoko had now become the manager of a crumbling apartment to keep her mind off of her sorrows. But will she be able cope when she has such a difficult group of tenents to deal with?
A lovely first volume, though the development of Godai and the lovely manger's relationship isn't handled as smoothly as it could be. One moment Kyoko has no reason to care about him and suddenly she's worried about how he'll do in exams-though this could just be part of her good nat More...

I used to love Inuyasha when I was younger and when I was browsing my local library for something to read and saw Maison Ikkoku, I decided, "Hey why not?" and grabbed it.
I'm not sure why, but I don't get along well with 90's manga. Maybe it's the style (although the girls are really, really, really pretty) but it doesn't sit well with me. However, I was able to tolerate it in this manga.

Initially I started looking into Takahashi's manga due to the Inuyasha anime series on Adult Swim (based on the Inuyasha manga). It had started out nicely, but the DVD's were pricy and hard to find at the time.
I came across this, and liking the first volume, ended up buying the set, one at a time, as an escape from my usual reading habits.
I'm really unsure what on earth was going on with the volume description above.

Romantic manga that tells the story of a widowed woman who becomes the manager of an apartment block. One of the tenants, a university student, is immediately attracted to her and the story is essentially a soap opera of the two of them eventually coming together. Very sweet, if a little predictable. It has author Takahashi's zany sense of humour that readers will recognize from Ranma 1/2 and Inu Yasha.

a must on any otaku's library of classic shojo manga. the series has excellent characters...poignant, real, great humor, and a heartfelt storyline. the "everyday" scenes makes you feel you're one of the borders in this ikkoku household...and how they party!

This is one of the first titles that really sucked me into comics. I collected every issue for the first 7 of the 15 series, now I'm rereading them from the beginning--every bit as good as I remember.

knockabout funny, also smart and so very, very grownup. i like Takahashi as much as the next girl but if i'd realised maison ikkoku was this good, i'dve dived in long ago.

This was the first volume of manga I ever read. I just reread it and still think it's one of the best comics of all time.

This is an endearing romantic comedy that is classic Takahashi, minus the supernatural.
