A diferencia de los otros libros que he leído de Nigel Barley, éste es más tipo ensayo, menos novelado aunque en ocasiones también cuente sus vivencias personales.
Reflexionando sobre la muerte, hace un recorrido por los rituales e interpretaciones a través de diferentes culturas mundiales. En ocasiones interesantísimo y sorprendente, contiene también pasajes excesivamente repetitivos para mi gusto.
