I read this way back in the day and don't remember a whole lot about it. It was set on the planet Missouri and the main antagonist was a robot outlaw named Buffalo Young.

First I must point out: Zak is the biggest freakin’ whiner. I’m not sure whether we were supposed to identify with him or find him funny – all I felt towards him was distain. And that’s pretty bad since the novel takes places very solidly around him. But for some reason the novel was good, somehow.
