Loved it

I have always enjoyed reading Carole Mortimer's books and must say she's an inspiration. So loved reading about Finn and Eva with a dash of thrill. The love scenes were super hot.

This is a new venture for the author who writes contemporary and historical romance for HM&B. The Alpha series is billed to be more explicit with stronger language and a smidgeon of suspense.

It's becoming increasingly common to introduce a new series with a novella, a taster to get you started. Christmas Alpha is the story of Eva, who we meet on arrival at an isolated cottage delivering a parcel. The cute meet has a high level of sexual impact, giving us a fair indication that this is warmer

So, a novella to start a ‘sizzling HOT’ new series from a seasoned romance writer. Well, maybe they didn’t need the uppercase there. And maybe I need to double (triple!) check I got this for free.

Novellas are tricky, for starters. Introducing characters and making the reader care about them in the short format is a talent that I’ve discovered a meagre few have been gifted. But one thing they should do is give me a taste of the theme of the next books to encourage me to buy them. All I can say is

Anyone who starts a book with 'Just go down the hallway and through the door on the left, take your clothes off and get started...' well what can I say - hooked lol. I have been reading Carole's books since the 80's and still have the books. Carole is certainly breaking out. A lot hotter then her usual books. Finn and Eva's beginning is certainly interesting and get more interesting. Sexual tension, blizzard, stuck in the middle of no where in North Wales. One might imagine sipping hot coffee in ...more

Cute story

When a man answers a door wearing only jeans and tells a woman to go into the bedroom and strip? You know the story is going to be good.

The woman in question is Eva and she works for a courier service. The man is Finn an infamous photographer. When a blizzard strands Eva with Finn anything can happen and does.

A story of intense attraction...really good!

This was a really good story. Two very different people come together during a blizzard. A case of mistaken identity. An element of danger. Intense attraction and erotic scenes. A Really good read.

After a brutal break up, internationally famous Finn Devlin retreats to a remote estate in the wilds of Wales to escape his ex-girlfriend whose behavior has taken a violent and dangerous turn. Finn's life takes a surprising turn when the courier delivering a package to him ends up marooned with him by a blizzard. Finn feels passion for the fiery woman unlike anything he has felt in a long time, if ever. But the package she delivers sends ice through his veins, because it signals to him that his

I picked this up via instafreebie from the cover & title I thought it was going to be a christmas Wolf Shifter story It wasn't, However it was still a great read.
From the mistaken identity scene at the door, followed by the over friendly home owner, I hadn't expected such an action packed nail biting book.
It was a great surprise and throughly enjoyable.

I voluntarily read & reviewed this Advance Reader Copy.

In the winter months I love nothing more then read Christmas stories.
I like Carole Mortimer her books so I decided to give this Christmas story a try and I really enjoyed it.

The last thing that Evy Shaw expected when she rang the doorbell was that it would be opened by a handsome man only dressed in a pair of jeans or that he would ask her to get undressed! Evy doesn’t know what to think of it, except that he’s mistaking her for someone else and that she in ‘no’ circumstances will take her cloth

Different Type of Book From Mortimer

Longtime readers of Carole Mortimer should be aware this this book is sexier and more explicit than her previous books.

THE STORY: Eva Shaw is a delivery person and brings a package to a house when the door is answered by a half dressed man who instructs her to undress and go to another room and lay down. Eva is shocked to realize that this man believes her to be a call girl. Finn Devlin has been stalked by an ex-girlfriend and is in hiding. When Eva and Finn a

World renowned Irish photographer Finn Devlin left London for the wilds of the Welsh countryside four months ago. Finding out that his girlfriend Moira was also seeing an elderly married man put an end to their relationship as far as Finn was concerned. Moira however didn’t see it that way and made an ugly scene at a restaurant where Finn was dining with a woman. The retreat to Wales will hopefully cool the situation.

A delivery from his manager turns into an embarrassing encounter when Finn mist
Christmas Alpha is a sexy start to Carole Mortimer's new Alpha series. Finn Devlin is a moody, famous photographer, who's left the city to hide out from a crazy ex. Eva Shaw drops down into his life at exactly the wrong moment, and immediately gets the worst first impression of an angry Finn. When this strange man sizes her up and demands she takes her clothes off Eva only wants to head in the other direction. As soon as she can finish delivering a package to him, she intends to get away in a ...more

A strange hodge-podge of elements. It wasn't hard to finish, on the one hand, but I never felt like I was able to suspend disbelief, either. The hero is an example of the strangeness of the whole book. He's an artistic success as a photographer, some kind of manly badass, who nevertheless has to hide from his stalker ex-girlfriend and disappointed his fishing family with his sissy life choices. The heroine is a buttoned up university student (can't remember if she's a grad student, but she might ...more

There is not a book I have read written by Carole Mortimer that I have not found deliciously steamy! This novella, Christmas Alpha, is a brilliant opening introducing a brand new series. Eva Shaw and Finn Devlin spice up the pages though Finn’s request for Eva to strip got me by surprise. Snowed in together...I get the drift with their banter. The sex is explicit and very different from what the author normally writes but in all a brilliant introduction to a brand new series! A quick and fun ...more

This was an okay start to a new series. When Eva delivers a parcel to Finn he mistakes her for the model he hired for a photo shoot. He tells her to take her clothes off. She's outraged. Then she gets snowed in with him and things quickly heat up between them. But Finn, a well-known photographer, is being stalked by some crazy woman he had the misfortune of getting involved with. It puts both him and Eva in danger. Good suspense, being a novella the relationship was rushed but all worked out in ...more

Great, fun, and steamy read!

This is a fun and steamy romance with a winter backdrop. It has a fun plot, some good suspense, and the sexy NSFW part is steamy without being awkward or overdone. Really enjoyed this. While short, the characters are easy to relate to and develop during the story.

Well written. Recommended for those who want to read about a whirlwind romance with engaging characters who also want some steam in their stories.

A one click roulette story I'll likely read again when I nee

Short but not bad

Famous photographer goes in hiding because of a psychotic ex girlfriend. A parcel is deli reed to him in seclusion by a woman he assumed was a model he was about to photograph. By the time mistaken identity is figured out the blizzard has moved in and closed all roads. They are forced to spend the night together and keep each other warm. Only pro lemme is the person lurking outside of the cabin

Short romance.

This is the first book in the Alpha series and although enjoyable, it had the potential to be so much more. Caught in snow storm, courier, Eva, delivers a package to a remote property, and from there there's a case of mistaken identity, an obsessed, psycho ex lover...oh yeah, and a hot, Irish photographer named Finn. Too short to define characters and plot, which essentially was pretty good. A shame but worth a quick read.

The love story between Finn and Eva started on a witty note . It developed with Finn's erotic humor where Eva gets instantly drawn to him. Their exchange during the story is really interesting and keeps the reader motivated for read out for more. I have really enjoyed the book and would highly recommend book lovers to read .
Book Binge
My only real criticism of this book was the excessive use of exclamation points. I couldn't imagine some of those sentences being exclaimed, it just didn't seem appropriate at times. Also I was confused at the end as to why Eva was acting as if it was Finn's fault when she was the one who declined his invitation to go out

Loved it, couldn't put it down!!

This was definitely a page Turner until the end. I loved the very beginning to the very end. The chemistry between Flynn and Eva was magical. The twist with Moira turned out to be a blessing in disguise. Can't wait to read the next book in the Alpha it Lucien or

He thought she was his model. She thought he was crazy as well as bossy. She was there to deliver a package not to be photographed. All she needed was his signature and then she could be on her way. By the time he figured out she was a courier it was too late. She was stuck. A blizzard struck

A little different than what I was expecting-- not really Christmassy, but still a cute read. I liked Finn. I liked Eva. Together they were pretty hot. I also liked laughing while I read this, so overall, a good read.

It was ok - probably not I one to read whilst waiting at the doctor's office - just about finished it in the waiting room, it was so short. Couldn't quite suspend belief to really enjoy the story, but then I am not a huge fan of 'romance' novels.

This author never disappoints!

Need a quick read? This novella has it all. Great characters, good plot, and steamy passion. Just the right length of story when you don't have much time and need a quick pick me up or distraction.
Personally a hundred pages was not enough for me to love this book. It really drew me in with the first few pages but I thought it lacked a lot of suspense and everything was pretty predictable. It was a nice effort but not enough for me to be wowed or want to read the rest of the series.
