Yup. This is my introduction to all things motherly. :) It sits by my bed and I show it to Marek every month, the diagrams and pix which show "what to expect" that month. Just so he knows, you know? And for added sympathy, though, he's already good at that. He's SO glad he's not pregnant. It's been good b/c everything I read in the book seemed to come to pass the day after reading it. Nosebleeds, etc. So Marek told me to stop reading it. Now I think I've memorized it. Marek wants to kn...more

This book is "okay". It really is a wonderful resource manual- but as a cover to cover read- NO. I found that they covered even the oddest thing in great deal- which gave the newly pregnant me a bit of concern about all the wild things that could indeed happen. And since they were so detailed it caused me a bit of dismay not to find much info on some of my pregnacy oddities. So this was a good resource... but not a great read.

I liked this book. I don't know why so many don't seem to like it. I personally think knowledge is power, and so it is good to read about things-good and bad- so as things happen, or go wrong, you already have the information in your head. This was informative. I read it cover to cover twice, and referenced it and re-read sections several more during my very difficult (first) pregnancy.

just kidding! i did NOT read this book... well, i read it a long time ago--actually, when i was a nanny. the questions & succinct answers, then, were very useful. but now it's a little more emotional and a lot less clinical for me, i'd say. so, i don't think this book would be useful. besides, i now have the INTERNET for silly questions like "how soon can my baby eat mashed peas?"

I haven't been too impressed with this series of books. They are somewhat helpful, but a little hodge-podge in what they cover and definitely not comprehensive for the serious researcher. And of course the best resource is other moms that have similar views and more experience than oneself, for which I have been most grateful.

This is a good 'first start' book when you first find out you are expecting. It has a ton of helpful information. I like the way it is laid out and gives you what to expect at the different months and how the baby is developing. I would definitely recommend it to other expactant parents.

This book was okay. I thought it felt very scattered though. It didn't seem very organized! The information was pretty general. The book is okay for a first book on pregnancy, but after reading it, I had to go and buy a more thorough, in-depth, organized book!

This book is AWESOME!!! I started reading it when I first found out I was pregnant with my son, he's 12 and 1/2 years old now. This book helps to explain so much. I referred back to it when I was pregnant with my twin girls, they are 8 and 1/2 years old.

Even though the internet is overflowing with information I love reading the old fashioned way. A book by the bed is such a comforting site. This has been a great reference so far. I'll be done with it in 7 more months if anyone needs it...

Read this book cover to cover while pregnant with my first child. Actually, I think it was almost to the back cover because it really is information overload. I use if for reference and would never go back to read it thoroughly again.

I consulted this book almost daily when I was pregnant with my older daughter. It's really an invaluable resource for an expectant mother.

(I know, this edition wasn't pubished until 1996, but I wanted one with a cover photo.)

Reading over this book was like playing the Worst Case Scenario game. Life's too short to have all your questions answered. So, I'm bypassing the books and have enjoyed just talking to people instead.

a good start for a mom to be. it answers ur worries, at least mine. Cheer you up while waiting for something you do not familiar with. it's not trying to give you a snob lecture.

Don't read this if you're expecting unless you want to be scared out of birth. It focuses on everything that can go wrong- and pregnant women do NOT need stress like that.

This book was ok. I was not too fond of the question/answer method of writing. It was informative, but not as good as I had expected it to be.

This is wonderful from month to month to keep you sane, and not panic.

Didn't love the food though.
