NPR Funniest Driveway Moments: Radio Stories That Won't Let You Go
Selected from the National Public Radio archives, these stories by some of NPR's favorite commentators will keep listeners laughing.
A "driveway moment" is when you're so captivated by a story on NPR that you stay in your car to hear it to the end--even if you're sitting in your own driveway. Some are serious, some are touching, and some, like the stories includ...more

NPR interviews and episodes that are so funny they are said to have kept listeners in their cars even after they reached their destinations and, I can honestly say, that's true! These are snippets from NPR segments with guests such as Dame Edna, Mel Brooks, David Sedaris, Carl Reiner, Jonathan Winters, Billy Connelly and more. Dame Edna was hysterical, Mel Brroks as entertaining as always and David Sedaris had me ready to pack my bag to move to Paris. And who knew a Supreme Court Justice could...more
Touted as the stories that kept people from getting out of their cars even when they had reached their destinations, this collection includes interviews with some of the funniest people in the business. However, these were not their funniest moments. I found each of the stories interesting, but not arresting. David Sedaris, Dame Edna, and Justice Stephen Breyer were the funniest. I felt as if the idea for the collection came about and then the moments were found. Having listened to NPR my w...more
If it was up to me, I probably would have named this audiobook "Interviews with some famous comics, and some mildly amusing stories from NPR radio". Of course, if I was marketing the book and trying to increase sales, I might have selected a title similar to the existing one. But in reality, it was simply a replay of a number of interviews with a number of individuals from the entertainment business, including Jonathan Winters, Phyllis Diller, Mel Brooks, David Sedaris, etc. talking ...more
I listened to this in the car on the way to and from work. There are parts of this CD that I laughed so much I thought I would have to pull over. Some parts are sort of sad because the person has passed and we will never hear them live again. Overall, a very good listen.
Some interesting interviews with comedians, but not really driveway moments. I think the David Sedaris piece, which I'd already heard was the best. I think that This American Life has more driveway moments. This was fun, but pausable.
I think that Funniest Driveway Moments is a bit of a misnomer. Most of the stories were on the topic of comedy, but they weren't all hilarious. My favorites were Dame Edna, Justice Bryar, Jonathan Winters & Billy Connelly.
Mainly interviews with figures made fascinating by their unique sense of humor. Didn't find it as captivating as advertised, but still very fun listening, worth checking out.
I have to agree with other reviewers; I definitely don't agree with NPR's assessment that these are the funniest moments. I only found the interview with Billy Connolly worth listening to.
for an audio book full of funny moments, I am disappointed in the lack of humor thus far. Update, I only found Dame Edna funny,
This audio is for lovers of NPR. Some funny segments. Mostly interviews with comedians.
I enjoy these 2-disc segments to no end. The opening with Dame Edna is classic...
Some great stories, some stories that I could not believe were included.
Funny. But, not leaving a lasting impact on me.
I listened to this audio book CD and enjoyed it!
The audio clips were mostly interviews with comedians or people who write about humor. My favorite clip was about Lily Tomlin. I really liked her in 9 to 5 and it was great to hear her talk her experiences. Not my generation, but she's great.
I was disappointed in this. I found very few of the comedians nearly as funny as the interviewers did, I didn't learn much about them, and I didn't gain much insight into the immortal question "what is funny".
NPR can be way funnier than this. Frankly, a let down.
