I think kids in grades 1-4, who like cats or animals in general, will like this book. I liked it, and I think I would have liked it as a kid.

The main character, Gus, has a good heart and wants to help a stray cat he finds on his way to school. However, he doesn't really know how to help the cat. He is not allowed to have pets in his apartment, so he can't take it home. Gus does the best he can to help, without getting adults involved because he doesn't want the cat taken away to a shelter.

He meets up with the cat again and now he knows that he must keep it. But where? He can't have a pet at home and you can't keep pets at school...or can you?
