Mother, What is the Moon? by David Griswold is a sweet story with beautiful illustrations. Short but sweet, the book likens the moon to things like a ball of snow and a white stone in a streambed, among other things. Each comparison, and each accompanying illustration, is a metaphor for an actual fact about the moon. I’d dare call it a cleverly disguised educational bit — very slightly, as I don’t know that it’s something everyone will see in the book. Still, I think it could be used as a ...more
