Short and brutal description about the oppresion of the lower classes in latin american regions which suddenly become the center of an industry.

The book starts describing the stark contrast of the once quiet and pacific valley into a town dominated by a mining industry, their foreign owners and the sudden increase in population thanks to peasants who were told it was going to be a place to acquire wealth. In one of those peasants and the conditions of his family the author makes a pretty sharp s

It was an excelent and entertaining read. I shed tears in parts of the book due to the fact that everything the characters go trough is a potrayal of real life..Their suffering and the circumstances they live in showcase the reality of millions of humans today and the desaire of a revolution is more than well founded among the workers in the book that makes you believe in the need for change and makes you feel like you are among those men revolting a whole town and asking for justice and, most i ...more

It shows the true colors of what a country can give to his people. Is really interesting and has a part of a true story, which many colombians live through every day.
