In exchange for a vial of dragon’s blood to save her brother’s life, Melanie Hall offers herself up as a sacrifice to one of the British dragon-shifter clans. Being a sacrifice means signing a contract to live with the dragon-shifters for six months to try to conceive a child. Her assigned dragonman, however, is anything but easy. He’s tall, broody, and alpha to the core. ...more

(4.5 stars, but as a personal rule, I round down to 4.)

I'd never heard of Ms. Jessie Donovan before I read this, so I started Sacrificed to the Dragon without knowing what to expect. I didn't even get the chance to check any Goodreads review; I just took a leap of faith and bought it by impulse.

And I'm so freaking glad I did because I L-O-V-E-D this book. Actually, if it weren't for a few flaws, I would have given this a glowing 5-star rating. Without a doubt, this is a definite must-read if you

This is Abby's fault. Her updates for this book made me want to read. I'm glad I did, because dragons. Dragons

I liked this book. Interesting back story, good plot, no TSTL characters. It's a quick and short read. I rather wish it'd have been longer as some parts felt too abrupt, but it wasn't a detriment. Mel's reasons for going dragon love slave were admirable and Tristan's grumpy alpha personality is a good contrast to that. The side characters and how Mel helped them made her a more interesti

Because Dragons.
First time read from author Jessie Donovan. The story was a bit boring for me. I really thought the concept of the story sounded really good but the execution of the story was not.

Melanie (the heroine) just wasn't that exciting nor made the story even interesting. She was lame. I mean her character could of been 10 times from exciting if she would of put up more fight, had same attitude, something, anything.

Tristan's (the hero) character seemed OK but when i had to hear his "inner dragon" talk

If I'm being unbiased, this book is probably a 4.25.

But it has dragons and I get to be biased. So 10- I almost cried at work- stars!

If you love dragons, go read this book. RIGHT NOW!

I was in a mood for some easy paranormal/shifters romance and this hit the mark. It was my first time reading about dragon shifters and I quite enjoyed it.
My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 Unicorns - for the entire serial!! Awesome and I loved it all :)

Part One
Okay I always start with the things I think people need to know or would like to know. This is a 4 part serial. It doesn’t take long to read this because it is under 50 pages. Serials are not my favorite when it comes to reading; however, I loved reading this one. Considering the length of this, the author did a phenomenal job at showing me this new world and hooking me on the story. It usually takes

Pedestrian and laughable story and characters

There was literally nothing redeemable about this book.
To save her little brother, she sells herself into prostitution. And of course her parents (whom she loves so much but are never really referred to again) just stand on the front steps of her confinement and pat her on the head as if she won't be dying in the next year.
I did find myself laughing but that was more because of the pathetic writing than because of anything actually entertaining goin

Melanie trades herself to be a Sacrifice to the dragon. It might well cost her her life, but her brother needs the dragons blood to cure his infection. Tristan, however, is not best pleased that his turn has come around to deal with a human female and mate with her. His dragon is more than pleased with Melanie!

I do love me some dragon shifters, and if they have their own little twist? Perfect. And thats just what this little 4 book set is.

Just darn perfect!

Overall: Melanie is willing to be a dragon sacrifice as long as she gets the blood of a dragon to save her brother. She goes into their compound with no exceptions and perhaps no chance of survival, but once she meets Tristan that goes out of the window. Tristan instantly feels a sexual attraction to Melanie, but doesn't want to like her because of what happened to his family. So after completing the contract rules, he goes back to business and Melanie is left lonely and not sure of the

First of all, I read this entire series up thru book 4 straight thru the second time. The story lines are really good! I love how she overlaps each of the stories, and the reader is able to follow each story while still knowing what's going on at the same time in each of the other stories. It's almost as if she mapped out a time line for everything before she even started writing. Here's what I like.... The author seems to have a great understanding of present and past tense, among several other ...more

So right off the bat let me admit to some trepidation. It sounds very PWP (plot what plot) erotica, not romance. But it won me over due to Melanie and later Arabella. Donovan builds the world and while it doesn't sound tremendously different then modern times, its fascinating how dragons were fit in.

The UK is very aware of its dragon-shifter clans. And even though they are feared, Melanie offers herself as a sacrifice to save her brother's life. If putting her life on the line to try and bear their children isn't enough, Melanie has to spend her time shackled to the grouchy, human-hating Tristan.

I downloaded this book for free from Amazon, and this is the first I've read of Donovan's work.
This was a lot of fun, although I think I preferred the first half to the second.

Sacrificed to the Dragon Part 1 / 5 stars
Engaging, entertaining and very original
What a wonderfully refreshingly new series with dragons. Well written and extremely enjoyable to read. Very engaging and just makes you want more. I love the conflict Tristan has within himself and his dragon. And the very fiesta Melanie, I can't wait to see what happen next with her. And very glad of it, since I now have a new favorite author.

I am happy to report that the sexual content did take over the story line. This novel is for eighteen and over.

The story is gripping from the very beginning. Melanie Hall is ready to do anything to save her fifteen year old brother, including sacrificing herself to a man who is half man half dragon. The sacrifice part is that she's a willing individual

I saw the first portion of this for free and downloaded it. It was interesting enough that I bought the entire set. HUGE Disclaimer: I never have, and never will, buy a SERIAL book that is not complete. I've read literally hundreds of fan fiction stories and those are okay to read as WIPs (works in progress). But I'm not paying for that pleasure. I've been left high and dry several times as writers of fan fiction left the fandom and didn't finish their stories. So...I wouldn't ever buy a book ...more

Melanie is open minded, stubborn, and has a help-everybody personality-and that comes in handy when dealing with Tristan and his dragon clan. She's sacrificed herself for dragons blood to save her little brother. She's also decided if she gets pregnant, she isn't leaving her child behind. Mel is going to stay and make the best of the situation.

Tristan is your typical brooding alpha male with a very negative outlook on humans due to his past. Being assigned to breed with Melanie isn't his first

This is not really a bad book.
It is set in an alternate universe where Dragon shifters co-exist publicly with humans.
Melanie is a human sacrifice and her job is to produce a dragon-kid with a dragon-shifter through a very clinical process.
The story deals with how she finds her place in the Dragon-shifter clan she was assigned to.

What I liked - pretty straight forward narrative, Mel's frankness and an unusual story line about dragons.

What I didnt like - This kinda disappointed me.

I don't know how or when this ended up in my iBooks but holy hot cakes am I glad it did. Let me repeat…. HOLY. HOT. Cakes.

Tristan, our H, is theeeeeee hottest dragon shifter. I have a small obsession with dragons and dragon shifters are way cool. I think this is the first full length novel I've read with a dragon shifter theme and it's kind of depressing because I should have read them sooner.

I won't lie… I was a bit nervous that this was going to be bestiality because ONE other dragon shifter
Tristan and Melanie. Predictable but entertaining run of the mill shifter romance. In a world where people know about dragon shifters and that dragon blood has miraculous healing properties, Melanie has made a bargain to save the life of her little brother. She drops out of her Anthropology classes to go have a dragon baby. They call them sacrifices, but NOT virginal ones. There is a shortage of dragon females, so the dragons bring in a few human women every year to get pregnant by one of them. ...more

I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this. I loved the way the author made the dragon and the man independent, even though they were two halves of each other. I also really appreciated that neither the hero nor the heroine 'changed' once they fell in love - she was still feisty and argumentative, and he was still bossy and sometimes grumpy. The plot wasn't predictable, and kept me guessing, but it flowed well and was believable (as believable as any paranormal story is going to get). I ...more
Dragon shifters, man. DRAGONS. What's not to like? Sure, the dragons are hunted and are slowly dying out because of skewed birth ratios and they require human "sacrifices" in order to procreate, but DRAGONS!

So. Tristan and Melanie. Tristan has a chip on his shoulder about humans. Melanie had volunteered as a sacrifice to save her brother. He's kind of a jerk, she's willing to do whatever needs to be done to uphold her side of the contract. Even if that means putting up with Tristan's jerky ways.
