Hero or Zero is a good book. It starts off slow but quickly grows into something much bigger, our three main characters seem to be floating around in a love triangle for a tiny bit of time but the moment the main character figures out that one of them isn’t worth it. I love watching the struggle in her as she discovers this and as she develops her relationship with the right person.

In the end the book read a little slower than I wish it would have, not enough action to keep me interested in turn

First we meet Ethan Blake, (who believes he’s amazing), then there's Sean, Ethan’s agent and Drew Carmichael, Head of Client Management at the Limelight Agency. Drew comes up with an idea for a competition to help elevate Ethan’s celebrity status in the UK and possibly state side too. Ethan loathes the idea at first and only agrees to do it if the winner is good looking. (cue rolling of the eyes)

The lucky or should I say unlucky competition winner happens to be Chloe Jones, a thirty-something si

Thank you to Julie Shackman for sending a copy of this book to me for review. I loved Julie’s debut novel Rock My World so when I was asked to review Hero or Zero I jumped at the chance.

The idea for this story was great and something that I’ve never seen before. It is something that everybody would love to do, meet their favourite actor/singer/author etc., but rarely get the chance to do. However, we don’t think about the possibility of them being the total opposite of what you think, a complete

Let me just start by saying this book was super adorable and made me completely fall in love with Chloe Jones; a level headed, strong, witty, single mother who harbors a major crush on the gorgeous, sexy actor, Ethan Blake.

The story starts off with Ethan Blake, up and coming British actor, in a meeting with his agent and manager discussing the possibility of a new competition that would attract tons of media attention and open the doors to American television for him…or so he hopes. Ethan wants

Hero or Zero is a unique story, built on the life of a celebrity, mixing with the ordinary everyday folk.

When twenty-something single mum Chloe wins a competition to have her idol, Ethan Blake, live with her for a whole month, she is ecstatic. What more could a girl want?

Chloe pictures a ‘happy ever after’ fantasy in her head, in which Ethan falls madly in love with her, and they become a little family.

In reality, that’s all that it is deemed to be, a fantasy. Ethan likes Chloe, but for one thin

Twenty-something Chloe Jones is a single mum and the most important thing in her life is her young son Danny. However, when she’s not busy taking care of him, she allows herself to dream away every now and again and usually handsome actor Ethan Blake makes an appearance in those dreams. Chloe knows it’s just a silly crush on a TV heartthrob, but she would love to meet Ethan someday and see whether he’s as perfect as she imag

This book is about a dream I think a lot of people have had, meeting their heart throb star. We all know that fear of meeting that famous person you've been imaging and having them be someone completely different and this book doesn't let us down in that aspect.

The books main characters are Chloe Jones, Chloe's son Danny, Ethan Blake (said heart throb) and Ethan's assistant Sean. Chloe is a single mom, who is strong, funny and dealing with the everyday struggles of life. With Ethan and Sean livi

Okay, a little slow to grab my interest

This was a cute story. There were a lot of British colloquialisms, so I think it may be difficult for some readers to enjoy. I lived in England for 3 years and had no trouble though. The characters were good and believable, and I liked the overall story. However, I felt like it took some time to really get underway and never completely grabbed my full attention. As for comedy, it was cute, but not really the LOL type humor I hoped for when downloading the b

Yikes! This was a tough one to get into for me....too much English wit, I guess. Was hard to feel attached to the characters, though I couldn't give it up until the end...just to be sure Chloe wasn't a total idiot.

I'm not going to give up the end, but when it comes to the overblown, egotistical nightmare of the British star kind, Ethan Blake is a big ZERO, in my book. How his manager deals with him, I'll never know. When Chloe wins a month of him living in her apartment, with her son, I can't be

Hero or Zero is a lovely, fun story. Although the story line is a bit simplistic, Julie's writing is funny, reads very smoothly and had me laughing out loud a few times. It's a fun story about a girl's dream come true, but maybe not quite as she'd expected. Call it a 'modern day fairy tale' with a happy ending.
It's a relaxing read with funny dialogues.

Hero or Zero is a story with an unusual premise, but it is well told and very funny in parts. I laughed out loud each time Ethan said 'Dylan'. I enjoyed the interplay between the different generations and the forthrightness of the main character. A good book.

This is a good book. Bit slow to begin with but more than makes up for it once you get into it. I really enjoyed reading it.
