(Source: I received a digital copy of this book for free on a read-to-review basis. Thanks to Amazon Children's Publishing and NetGalley.)

This was an okay story; I just found it a bit dull.

Gabe was a character that I didn’t like much, he was rude to his mother, he dealt drugs to his friends, even when he knew they shouldn’t be taking drugs, and he just generally seemed to be on a downward spiral. I was not surprised that Irina’s parents didn’t want him hanging around her!

The storyline i

Oh boy I struggled with this story. On the one hand it was an easy YA read however on the other it had a main character that really didn't have any redeeming qualities.

Gabe was dealing drugs. Ok. If the book was centralized around a them where he was forced in to his

Actual rating - 2.25

Betting Blind wasn't a book that i enjoyed.

Gabe wasn't a likeable character at all. Dealing drugs - Especially to people he knows he shouldn't be dealing too, is bad enough, but he had a serious attitude problem to go with it.
Irina was an okay character, but i didn't love her. I didn't like her romance with Gabe either, and to be honest, i didn't want her to end up with him.

I'm not sure if it's just becaus

Gabe has always had a hard life, growing up poor in an area full of gamblers, drug dealers and drug addicts. It's not much better now, even though he is living with his mom in a nice place and is in a nice school. His mom is the mistress of a married man who is paying all of their bills, but if they need any money for anything extra, his mom has to ask permission. And Gabe knows he doesn't fit in at his new school. His life is like night and day compared to the kids there. When a hot Russian, ...more

I received a copy of this book from the publisher via Net Galley in exchange for a fair review.

Gabe isn't smart or rich, but he is charming, and when he charms the right girl, he finds himself a beautiful girlfriend and a place in the popular crowd. If he wants to play in the big time, he has to dress and drive the part, so he starts dealing drugs to his friends to make a little cash. Things spiral out of control, forcing Gabe to try to figure out what is really important in life and love. This

DNF @ 20%

I tried. The premise sounded good and I thought we were going places, but we haven't gone anywhere. I thought about DNFing this book at a few other points, but kept going because, despite how it probably seems, I don't like DNFing books! It actually hurts my heart to do it because there is a large part of my heart that feels for the author who wrote it, and another large part that honestly believes it will get better.

Gabe is a 17 year old boy who is used to living in the not as nice part of town. But now that his mom is cozied up with Phil, a rich man who won’t leave his wife, Gabe feels out of place in their new home and school (both paid for by Phil). He makes friends easily at Claremont High, but does not grasp the schoolwork as fast as his classmates. When a former Claremont student, Irina, performs her violin at a school assembly, Gabe knows he can get her number. The two develop a friendship but Gabe ...more

Some risks are worth taking.....

Gabriel James is not happy with the man his mom is seeing, Phil is the guy paying the bills for Gabe's mom, but not leaving his wife. Gabe knows his mom is living in a fairy tale, thinking that one day Phil will leave his wife for her.
Then Gabe's new school is filled with rich kids all competing for the ivies, He is lucky if he swings Cs.

Gabe's luck seems to change when he meets Irina, a hot violinist who is homeschooled and has strict parents who are Russian.

Teenagers.
Thats what I think about it. The story is great although it does not have an ending as a second book will be done to keep the characters alive. Honestly, I enjoyed reading this book and see myself reading the up comming book.

I see why this book is not liked much. The protagonist makes poor decisions in his life, as well he is also rebellious. It took me awhile to understand why he was the way he was acting. But I have to say, this book would make a great gift for a teenage having a ha

Now i have no idea how I came by this audiobook. I may have received it for review or bought it on sale or something but it is NOT something I would ever have picked up if I read the blurb.

This is a contemporary YA Book. Our hero makes so many bad choices and then redeems himself again by being a really good guy. His mom is so flaky..Irina so ...so.... Well such a hypocrite. But his mom is not such a flake. Irina is smarter than most grownups and in the end this is one of the top ten reads I ha

A gritty story about one troubled teen, and the extreme measures he’ll take to find happiness and success in life — and the consequences of those actions, are the highlights of Betting Blind by Stephanie Guerra.

Guerra has a real knack for capturing the gritty details of her teen protagonist’s life, and giving plausible, realistic reasons for his not-so-great choices. The book takes unexpected and daring turns, so even if you think you know where this is going, you’ll find yourself pleasantly su

I could see this book turn into a movie. The dumb things a person will do to fit in and to keep what is unreachable except if, here comes the million dollar answer, MONEY. Now you are poor so drugs seep into this tale, hmm..... did I see this before. Surprisedly I did enjoy reading it and the only reason I found the story good, some parts got under my skin. Gabe is living in two worlds; he is a boy from a poor city with great drug connections but he is living in a rich town and dating a rich girl, and he has to decide what matters to him and who he wants to become. Guerra has written a book that is realistic and heartfelt. It is the first book since "Inside the Mind of Gideon Rayburn" that has made me feel like I could get inside a boy's head. I love this because it is a boy book and a girl book and a book for anyone who has ever felt hopeless and ...more

I want to say thanks to Amazon Childeren's Publishing and Netgalley for letting me read and review this book. I really enjoyed this book. I thought this book was an excellent coming to age book. I think the main character was annoying at some times and I didn't really like him but I was so happy when he got Ireana. This book was excellent I would love to more books like this. This book was real and I think it could happen to people. It dealt with some serious things that should be brought more. ...more

Really wanted to like this book. The storyline is a good one for a YA novel. However, I want a main character that I can connect with and this one has no redeeming qualities and is hard to connect with. Put this down several times hoping that when I came back with a clearer mind it would grab me.

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review via Netgalley.

This was a fun book that I enjoyed reading. I'm finding that I like the YA Fiction. I received this book from the Goodreads Giveaway. I felt this book was rather fun to relate to how things were when I was a teenager. The "rich" kid falling in love with the "loner" story is always entertaining. I recommend this book for anyone looking for a quick fun read.

Surprisingly good. Fantastic voice, compelling and believable characters and conflict. The character flaws were so spot on and that made this book such a refreshing read. I'm really looking forward to seeing even more growth in these characters through the next edition.
