“My name is Rylee and I am a Tracker.”

When children go missing, and the Humans have no leads, I’m the one they call. I am their last hope in bringing home the lost ones. I salvage what they cannot.

One last salvage and the final battle with Orion and the demon hordes will be upon me. I don't know the name of the person I'm Tracking, or what she looks like so finding her is

There’s an author note at the beginning of this book that strongly encourages readers to check-out the novella, STITCHED, prior to diving in, and after personally having done so I’d like to reinforce how important that 100 page tale is towards understanding RISING DARKNESS. Also, if you’ve been considering giving THE ELEMENTAL spin-off novels a whirl as I have, this installment will definitely convince you. So, you’ve been warned, by downloading this title you’re basical

I LOVED THIS BOOK!! Hell I love this series! I am a bit sad to see that the next book will be the final book but can't wait to see how this story ends for Rylee, Liam, Faris, Doran, Alex, Pamela, Blaz, Eve, Berget and Lark. I can honestly say that every book in this series was awesome. Once I picked it up, I certainly couldn't put it down. Fast paced action, heartwrenching moments, awesome characters and all in all one hell of a story. BRAVO Shannon Mayer

4.5 (I need the next one!)

Each book brings us closer to the end and well, unfortunately, there's only one more book to go.
I have a feeling this is a series I'll seriously miss, it will take me a long time to find another one as good.
Anyway, this book left me maybe more curious than the last ones! As I began to expect form this author, there were a few surprises in this book as well.
And something that I really like in this series: Mayer isn't afraid of killing her characters, a fault that a lot o

HERE ARE THE FACTS ABOUT RISING DARKNESS, BOOK 9

Until now, I've always reviewed Shannon Mayer's Rylee series as if I were trying to "convince" someone who has never read one of her books, how much I like her writing style and how much I love Rylee...well, I can't figure out how to do that SOS this time. So here are the facts.
***SPOILER, SPOILER, AND MORE SPOILERS!!! THE WHOLE REVIEW IS ONE GIANT SPOILER!!**So this review is for those who have read the book, not for those who are not a total fan!

I purchased this novel back in April when it became available, but held off reading it until today so that I could read book ten, "Blood of the Lost," the last book in the series, immediately after. Trust me when I say that this was not an easy task as I absolutely love this series.

This has been one fantastic series, a series that will not be forgotten. It's amazing to see how far Rylee has come from when we first met her in book one, "Priceless." It's been a roller-coaster of a ride full of ac

I love this series and have to admit it is one of my all time favorite urban fantasies. I was thrilled with the the novella in between this and the last book and I think it pushed my expectations through the roof for this one.

For spoiler free sake I'm going to be a little vague on this comment: I can truly say that I found almost everything about this book nearly perfect except for the situation with a single body holding two souls. That situation and the amount it was discussed just seemed to

Spoilers ahead do not read, you've been warned.
Alex is freaking back baby!!! Holy balls, I knew it was going to happen but I can't express how happy it makes me.
Pamela was really annoying most of the time, but I knew she'd wise up somehow, the final battle needed her.
Frank, poor Frank.
Milly, poor Milly.
Liam. Omg I love him. It's super weird for him to be sharing Far is, and I hope by the grace of the Gods, he will get a new body. I don't want them to share.

Short read.

This one grabbed me & brought it all together. Alex gets fixed, Pam gets fixed, Farris/Liam DON'T get fixed just yet, and Milly finally gets fixed when her head lands beside her. But Orion is already out, with the world kissing his feet. Rylee needs to get to work...

Larkspur is well rested & the final battle is here... And I read on!

Oh. My. God! This is one of my favorite series, No lie. Has been since I first read Priceless and I swear its the BOMB! Bar none. And each book gets better and better and yes, better. The characters are so well developed. The storyline itself is amazing, and to beat all the dynamics of the entire story are Off. The. Chain. Shannon has not only created a world all its own but one that if you read it the way I do it's like a movie playing in your head as you go. Page to page you get to live in the ...more

What! I can't believe I read this book so fast. I kept looking for the next page and couldn't believe that it ended quickly. Wow! Cannot wait to read about their final showdown with Orion. I'm still reeling from the events hat happened in the last chapter so much that I'm still trying to cope with the loss of some characters. Wow! Well written! Cannot wait for the audible book to come out as well!

Rising Darkness picks up right where Stitched left off. Rylee had her daughter, Marcella and left her in the monastery with Milly's son Zane, Erik and Coyote. She is traveling with Berget and Faris on Blaz looking to regroup with Doran, Pam, Eve, Frank, Will, Deanna and Alex.

Rylee comes back to a world that has been devastated by a demon driven Small Pox virus that has wiped out 1/2 the population. The clincher this time is supernatural aren't immune and they think Rylee's blood is the cure!!!!

I love Rylee. She is a heroine I rarely get annoying with. Since reading book #8, I had managed to forget that Rylee was pregnant and Liam was dead. How could I forget this? I don’t know, but it crushed me once more. Pamela has been training with Deanna and trying to help those afflicted with the plague with her meager healing skills. She is resentful that Rylee has been gone for 6 months. Milly is coming to her in her dreams and feeding this resentment. Only we know it can’t be Milly, or rather ...more

I was so happy to see that the "last" Rylee Adamson book had come out and that I could finally see how everything was wrapped up. I ordered it and read it up in a day (on my first day of vacation last weekend). I'm also pleased to see that the author has continued to make use of an editor. It makes reading her books so much more enjoyable. I was probably 3/4 through when I realized that no, we will not get an ending to the story anytime soon. Don't get me wrong, I have enjoyed these characters ...more

Serious complaint here- where was the remaining 100-150 pages that I needed for this book not to feel too short? To make the story be a little bit longer? To make it so that I could have gotten just a tiny bit more of Liam.

This is one of those series where I feel a lot for the characters. Over the previous eight books, I serious made Liam into of my book misters (mister sounds a bit more mature than boyfriend, don't you think?).
It was really, really nice to get glimpses of him in this book. But

With each book that goes by, it gets harder and harder to know what to say as these Rylee books are so brilliant. Rylee's team/family are wonderful and along with the character of Rylee herself what makes these such fantastic reads. Each book contains more action, more heartbreak, more jaw dropping moments of revelation than I think I can take. The twists and turns, with elements that were set up books ago keeps your brain constantly active. The story as a whole is coming to an end and when it ...more

The final showdown with Orion draws ever closer, and Rylee has one last ally to recruit in hopes of beating him: the Destroyer, an elemental held captive in an unknown location, who is said to be able to help Rylee win that last battle. While Rylee and a small group of allies search for the prison holding the Destroyer, Pamela has her very own battle to fight - a battle against herself, choosing light or darkness once and for all. And then there is Liam, who may be dead, but not quite gone...

When death is not really death, when we struggle to hold on to those nearest and dearest to our heart, when we figure out that everything we have ever fought for is all about our heart about love that's when the final battle will be won both within ourselves and the darkest ones.

Rylee knows loss and pain like no one else, but Rylee also knows LOVE and this is how she survives time and time again LOVE is the key to fighting the never ending darkness.

OMG I am blown away!

This has got to be the best so far in the Rylee Adamson series. For me it was a series of sobs, gasps, and heart palpitations. Rylee grows up so much in this but growth is painful. Plus this is a war and in war there are casualties. Mayer is truly a master story teller and I will always read her books. They cause me to span the whole spectrum emotions. Up and down, around and through...like a rollercoaster. I cannot wait for the final book in this series but at the same time

My heart broke in Wounded and has pretty much stayed broken. All of these characters are going through so much. I have a feeling this isn’t the end of all of the heartbreak, but I also feel like we may have some happiness to look forward to as well. I love how far Alex has come. He’s still one of my favorite characters. He is exactly the kind of person that Rylee needs by her side. She’s got an eclectic group of people on her team, but there is still so much that they need before they can win ...more

Cliffhangers Galore

This series is seriously frickin' fun! If anyone reads this review before reading any of the books, I highly recommend just buying them all outright--you'll do it eventually anyway. The jokes, the cussing, the priceless emotional roller coaster is the joy and despair of any avid reader. Rylee Adamson is straightforward, practical, and violently lovable. To read these books is to become part of the family, and you are welcome to it. It's a hodge podge of characters!!

Uuuugggghhh, we're back to this again? This time it was Pam who made me freaking insane. I get that there had to be conflict and she was a teenager, but seriously? Anyway, the overall story was good, the twist revolving around Faris shocking and entertaining, and Rylee was much more herself. The ending was really good and somewhat cliffhangery, but I can't deal with all these character deaths. Honestly, they are not stopping. Don't get attached to anyone in this series– if you do, I'll bet you ...more

This book is AMAZING! It will keep you guessing until the end and leave you wanting more. I tried very hard to make this book last, but that didn’t happen. This book is fast paced and full of action that tests all the characters in this series. This book had me angry and sad and worried and so freaking happy… I was all over the place with this one. Again I found this book unrelentingly miserable, it never lets up, there's no change of tone it just get's more and more dire. It get's dull, all the self-hating and feelings of doom just get repetitive. It really is non stop action but after a while it all blurs together and I found the whole thing unmemorable. It doesn't feel like Rylee has moved forward much over the last few book, she's still running from Orion it's just that in the mean time he's killed a load of her allies and infected the ...more

A non-stop rollercoaster ride.

I loved it, of course. There were so many interesting twists and turns in this book, I just held on and enjoyed the ride. The characterization of the various entities deepen so that although there is non-stop action, there is also more insight into each one. I even felt bad about Molly. You must read this book. Actually it is necessary to read all of the Rylee Adamson series, something I will do again this summer prior to the final book release in the fall.
