Moonshine magic causes all sorts of mayhem for Patrick, after a dragon escapes from his storybook - chased by a mean knight! Patrick won't stand for any bullies in his room, but protecting the 'fire worm' isn't so easy when he gets shrunk down too.

A charming Little Gem from specialist publisher Barrington Stoke.

Exciting, enjoyable and quick read for young people. White knights, a dragon and moonshine's magic, a perfect story for a growing imagination and also a nice introduction to Cornelia Funke's themes from her other works, such as Inkheart.

It's moonlight magic tonight!

And a small Dragon and a White Knight appear out of Patrick's Dragon book.

Let us see how Patrick will solve the problem and get them back to their homes...

A young boy is confronted by a dragon and a knight that have escaped from a story book.

The idea and plot for this book were great but the writing was clunky – if the writing had been better this could easily have been a four or five star book.

It's a moonlit night, and from a book full of stories of dragons, there appears a little dragon and a little white knight. The white knight is mean and is chasing the poor dragon and boy who he is calling a wizard. The little boy manages to save them both, but you will have to read the story to find out how! Very cute short story.

Lovely short story about Moonlight Magic, Patrick, a dragon and a white knight. The dragon and the knight were in a story book that Patrick was reading and came out of the book on a Moonlit night. Beautiful story for children who can read or read with their parents. Illustrations are excellent and bring the book to life.

The Moonshine Dragon by Cornelia Funke – 2nd grade and up – Fantasy – Little Gems/Barrington Stoke – Enjoyed this whole special story asking the question- what can come out of a book in special moonshine? Could characters come out of the books? What about a dragon? Cute adventure with a little boy who creatively uses objects in his home to solve challenges.

A charming wee yarn, was good to read this after seeing Funke talk so brilliantly at a recent event. She was wonderful. I had to start somewhere, look forward to checking out more of her work.
