I had this book for a while now but never felt compelled to urgently read it, maybe because I didn't like the cover much (*lol*). I like my CR cover to have both the hero and heroine. Sara Richardson is a new-to-me author and I believe this is also her debut.

Well, I liked it. First chapter immediately got my attention -- I said "sh*t" during the public proposal scene because I knew what would happen. Lesson to you guys, if you're not certain that your girl will answer yes to your marri

This is a great start to a new series by a debut author. I enjoyed the beautiful setting of the Colorado mountains, the adventurist characters that will hopefully be featured in future stories and of course the hero and heroine who find their attraction can’t be denied.

Avery King works for her father Edward; she is a hard worker who has just gone through the most humiliating experience of her life that was played out on national TV. Her father decides that it is the perfect time for her to compl

A sweet romance for a cold day….

Avery King is the heroine of this romance and she is sweet, funny and easy to like. She is also loyal, so when family expectations put her at odds with Bryce Walker, the sparks fly.

Bryce is struggling to restore many things in his life, including his family home and his reputation. To say he is less than welcoming to Avery and her proposal is an understatement. Their goals are very different and neither one wants to back down; they both have very personal reasons

I went into No Better Man assuming it was going to be a light and fluffy contemporary romance and I couldn't have been more wrong. Don't get me wrong, there wasn't a lot of drama and unnecessary angst but Avery and Bryce's relationship was anything but easy.

Bryce has had a pretty crappy life the past few years and now that he's finally starting to turn his life around he's about to lose his ranch. When Avery shows up with an offer to buy his ranch, he immediately turns her down but Avery isn't a

I wanted to like this book, but it just doesn't work for me. Avery is supposed to be this highly successful business negotiator but she bumbles and hedges and screws around so much I just can't take that seriously. It was bad enough when it looked like it was hormones (note to the editor: not pheromones, yes, there's a paragraph where she takes a moment to get her pheromones in order after first seeing Bryce) making her stupid. But it's as much authorial dictate as it is anything else. Her emoti ...more

Awesome read. Fantastic story and I loved the characters. Bryce is flawed and a bit broken but you can feel there is a good kind man struggling to come out. Avery is witty and fun and desperately in need of a little freedom. These two together worked perfectly. I will definitely be reading the rest of the books in this series. Ms. Richardson has a new fan for sure. I highly recommend this one.

I wasn't impressed. While a quick read for its 350-some-odd pages, I think the plot was a little too fast-paced. I don't think the author had a decent concept of time -- they were falling for each other after just one day, then four days passed, then suddenly someone says she's been there for two weeks. Huh? The story itself had promise, but was hindered by the author's poor writing style (she speaks in a lot of cliches -- it's all very tired, been-there-done-that sort of stuff). The character ...more

With a great setting and an enjoyable cast, the Heart of the Rockies Series seems to be off to a great start. I loved No Better Man, featuring Bryce Walker and Avery King.

Bryce is about to lose the family land. The ranch is in debt and has fallen into disrepair after he was away for a few years following an accident for which he carries tremendous guilt and shame. Bryce has trouble seeing the bright side of things in the recent past and works nonstop to earn back what was lost while he was aw

Avery King needs to leave Chicago before she is run out of town by angry Chicago Cubs fans. She turns down a marriage proposal from one of the city’s favorite pitchers during the seventh inning stretch. She humiliated him in front of thousands, and to make it even worse, the Cubs lost the game. So when the opportunity arises to travel to Colorado to purchase a rundown ranch for her father, she is more than ready to leav

I read this in a day, don't judge me. I liked the storyline but I felt there was way too much sexual tension throughout the whole thing. I just wanted to scream at the characters to grow up!

No Better Man is the first novel in the Heart of the Rockies contemporary romance series from author Sara Richardson and it's such a great series starter in that it gives readers a beautiful love story about second chances, in both life and love. Avery King and Bryce Walker are adversaries but that's because Avery wants something Bryce has and he refuses to give it to her--Walker Mountain Ranch. Even with her business savvy, Avery isn't a shar

This review will be short and sweet. I liked this book. I don’t have any major complaints but I also don’t have any major praises. It was a quick read and kept me entertained while I was sick (a nasty cold that still lingers, thank you very much). Richardson wrote good characters, they had good chemistry though things seemed a little rushed or over the top in terms of believability.

Avery and Bryce were nice characters and they were well-thought out. Their initial reactions to ea

This is a new author to me and wow did I like her writing and the characters that she created. I love losing myself in a story especially when the weather outside is cloudy because a story that warms me in the inside is the best thing. This story was a good read that was set in a wonderful ranch that was able to be foreclosed but one man would do anything to in order to keep what belonged in his family even if that meant losing his heart.

A new-to-me author in a brand new series. Avery needs an escape. After a very public breakup she's ready for a little quiet and a chance to close the loop on a business deal for her father so she heads to Colorado to try and purchase a resort. Bryce spent the past three years trying to crawl out of the hole that has become his life and the first step is to rescue his family's ranch, bringing it back up to scratch so that they can start welcoming guests again. But with the bank breathing down his ...more

No Better Man is a well-written, thoroughly addictive, and deeply magnetic read. Both main characters drew me in right away, as did the overall story. There's just something about a man who has lost so much and is yet still determined to pick up the pieces of the life he's got left, even if he doesn't exactly know how and struggles to put it into action. I liked that about Bryce. I liked it a lot.

This is the first book that I have read of Sara Richardson and to be honest the story didn't grab me at first as much as the cover did. Who doesn't love to see a hot man and his dog on the front! After reading the description on the book and a couple of reviews from other readers I decided to give the book a try. I think that Sara did a great job of developing both the characters and the plot. She really did a great job of giving you enough background about the characters that you felt like they ...more

This is Sarah Richardson's Debut book. I didn't realize this until after i read the book and checked out here website. This is a classic contemporary romance with a lot of drama and likable characters. Avery King comes to Aspen, Colorado to secure a multi million dollar ranch for her dad. Bryce Walker is the owner of said ranch and is on the brink of losing it because he is to far behind on payments. That's the situation in this story but in reality it's just the tip of the ice burg. I adored this book and I have to say it was a really good book for the first book in the series. It gives you just enough information without the author going overboard and adding new stuff that really didn't matter in the long run.

Avery isn't just a heiress but she is down to earth and is genuinely liked by the characters. Their wasn't one person in this story that she didn't win over. Since she was at the walker ranch she not only fell in love with the ranch but Bryce.

I particularly enjoyed the conflict between the two main characters in No Better Man. One character struggles with a closely held pain and to see through their own biased misconceptions of the other. The other struggles to be seen as separate and different from the prominent parent who has overshadowed much of their life. Some might feel that there's a bit of Pride and Prejudice influence because of the class based preconceptions in the tale, but these are very much different characters with ...more

Boy, was this surprisingly meaty. The heroine was extremely likeable. She wasn't one to drag things out if she could help it, and she was a woman of action though we never quite saw how truly effective she was at work. I appreciated her friendliness (though the hero liked to think it was just a business tactic) and her kind candidness amidst issues that could've made things more painful to unfold. The hero's trauma made him closed off, and I thought it might be the reason I wasn't completely on ...more

This small-town mountain love story is a perfect summertime beach read. Romance readers will flip for chapter 22. Avery King is smart, rich and a great softball player to boot. But she seeks more than the high-powered executive life she has lived under her father’s reign as a Chicago real estate tycoon. What Avery needs is Bryce Walker and his tight-knit middle America community seated in the beautiful Rocky Mountains. I didn't like Avery overly much in the opening chapter, and while Bryce was interesting, the author didn't get the hero and heroine together until about 40 pages in. When they were together on page, Avery was totally lusting after Bryce without any real consideration to the long-term boyfriend she'd just broken up with. This was a DNF for me but I may come back to this at another time.

No Better Man is a sweet small town romance for when you’re looking for a nice pick me up. It’s an easy read with a storyline that stays true to the course with no unneeded filler. It is the first book in the Heart of the Rockies series but can be read as a standalone. Bryce and Avery’s romance progresses naturally and doesn’t feel forced. Each character is flawed in their own right with issues that we can easily identify with and love. There were some minor resolutions that seemed a bit rushed ...more

I really loved and enjoyed this book. I think it was a great start to this new great series and the author has a wonderful writing style that captivated me. I will be looking at her other books to find something just else good to read. I really loved the story line and how both characters grew by them selves as well with each other. Really a heartwarming lovable story and I can't wait to read more by this author and for the next book in the series. Ben just sounds so yummy!

What can I say, it's a Romance novel. And by standards of a Romance novel it's nothing novel. The characters are fine-ish. Okay, they're flat and the plot is flimsy and the romance felt unrealistic and rushed, but again: Romance novel.

The resolving of the issue with Avery's father was too easy.

There is a mistake where it uses "Decimal" instead of "Decibel", which I'm surprised no one caught.

This should not be on the Library's Reader's Choice list. That's for sure.

Cute book with heart warming characters when you are looking for a nice romance to cheer you up on a gloomy day. An easy and fast read well written if it's the style you are looking for. I can't give it 5 stars because I like more intensity in my reads although it's a personal preference not anything lacking in the author. I did like that the characters were true to their personality with no unnecessary "cheesiness". The humor is also very good.

Bryce's mom knew how to put her boy in his place when he needed it, "Bryce David Walker.” Mom whirled to face him as the cloud of dust dissipated. “What the hell did you do to her?" Bryce is a considerate and is willing to do anything for his girl, "I’m taking you back to my place. I’m gonna warm you up, make sure you don’t have frostbite and all that.” Oh, yes. He would make sure she got warm." I liked this book is was sweet and romantic.
