Is there any color more vibrant than blue? And is there any character more vivid? In this urban fantasy novel, Blue starts out rough and bitter, jaded by the whole world — so for most young people who have grown up during this “Great Recession,” she’s very easy to relate to. But her character is much more complex than that, and when she meets Kasey, not only does she start to open up, time literally stops.

This gradually unfolding story will draw you in and keep the pages turning, the characters

I really enjoyed this book. It was really different and anything being different for me is saying alot, since I read so many paranormal, fantasy, sci-fi, and other of the types.

I was on the edge of my seat through it all. I was brought to tears on more than one occasion at something that happened, something I didn't expect.

I found Kasey pretty awesome, except his

This book was absolutely amazing.

I was first drawn by the intriguing title and cover. As soon as I opened to the first page I was hooked, to the point of emailing the author to gush within the first few chapters. Blue starts out as such an incredible character, with deep seeded flaws and a true emotional depth that is a rarity nowadays. I connected with Blue in every moment throughout the book, in her worst moments and as she evolved into the incredible heroine she became.

Her relationship with

I would like to thank the author for allowing me to read her novel and review it for this book tour.

Blue is angry. She is alone and feels utterly disconnected from the rest of the world and everyone in it. She has been on her own since she was 16 but before that her mother was never really a mother. She just ignored Blue for the constant string of men and drinks that flowed by. When the men started to notice Blue more than her, she threw her daughter out. The abuse and abandonment formed a young

I make an effort to be largely critical of writing styles/techniques, rather than general things I don’t like about the plot. In this case, however, I have make some comments on both sides of things, as one clearly begets the other.

I felt that all of the characters were very weak and flat. In fact, the only character who felt truly developed and

Blue was a loner, no friends or family. Every job she had ever had, she got because her employers thought that they could get her into bed. Her life was a mess and falling apart fast. That is, until one night partying at a club she encounters the very handsome and mysterious Kasey, and time stands still...literally. With Kasey's help, she learns that she has the ability to stop time and travel through time and space. Kasey recruits her int

At first I had no idea what I was getting myself into when I agreed to review this book, but I was so happy that I did because The Blue Effect is absolutely awesome. The character of Blue is definitely someone that takes a little bit to warm up to but that’s only because she had not had the best of a before life. When I got into the story further, I really began to love her and warm up to her. Blue grows as a person throughout the novel, and I loved relishing in the mystery that was also popping ...more
Book Review originally published here:

The Blue Effect is an adult urban fantasy / science-fiction novel focusing on the story of Blue and Kasey. Blue has had a rough life so far, but behind her bitter exterior, she hides a complex, intriguing personality.

When she meets Kasey, she finds out she can stop time, and Kasey explains to her that not only does she have abilities, but he has gis own gifts as well. And they’re not the only ones. He introduces Kase

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Blue Brennan has the sexy pin up looks and a foul mouth. Life hasn't been good to her. Most nights you can find Blue trolling the clubs for a distraction for the emptiness she feels. She is jaded and hates everyone. After losing her last job, Blue feels like her life is falling apart. One night while at a club she meets Kasey. Blue finds herself being drawn to him. Time literally stops and Kasey tells her that she is the one that ...more

The Blue Effect is amazing. I wasn't sure what I thought of Blue at first, but throughout the book I started to really love her. As much as this book is exciting with the characters' abilities and the constant mystery, I also thought that it was about Blue's growth. While she never loses that sassy mouth, and believe me you should be ready for a lot of cussing, she does start to look at her life and the world in a whole new way. I think that part is perfect.

I loved the whole ability aspect of t

Blue is coasting through life, without ambition, without a family, having been through a pretty crappy childhood. During early adulthood, she's gone from crappy job to crappy job, getting the jobs based only on her looks. Suddenly she meets Kasey, and just as suddenly, she can stop time, and she is introduced to a band of misfits just like herself who have varied and unique "abilities".
The writing itself is good. In the beginning,

Blue didn't need or want anyone in her life. She was fine just making her way and not feeling anything for anyone and therefore not risking being hurt by anyone.

Then she meets Kasey. He took everything in her life and turned it upside down. She found the love of a family from the group. After her rocky start with a couple of them it all worked out to where they would do anything for each other.

Now add in the unique abilities of each member and a threat to them that they don't have any idea how t

I had the pleasure of having an early read of this book. Loved it....

Blue is this young woman who has lived a very rough life. At a young age began to use her red hair and beauty to meet me. To get jobs. To just survive in her life. One night in a club she meets a guy who is not her typical type but she is very drawn to. Then the story explodes from there because when their hands meet, all time stops for everyone but them. Yeah.. Freaky. Kasey introduces her to a world she didn't know existed. W

This is an ok book for the most part. The writing is good but the dialogue lacks a genuine feel. The characters are different from each other but lack fleshing out beyond the surface. The plot is interesting and has a good flow. With more polish on the characters this has the potential for a very good read. I'm keeping this author on the watch-for-future-releases list. I received an evaluation copy through Promotional Book Tours in exchange for my honest opinion.

I really liked this book. It is very well written and has a great deal of imagery. I connected with Blue in many ways. She is a damaged and angry young woman who walks through life with a snarl. She can't keep her mouth shut and doesn’t help her get many friends. The story is unique, the supernatural abilities are some that aren't written about very often. The way the characters worked together, and learned how to grow their abilities into more made the book move along and kept everything ...more

This has a very interesting concept with some fun characters. So what if you found out you had some powers you never knew about, and there are a few people like you who have other powers and they use those powers to save and help people. Yep like Batman, except no one knows they exist. LOL

So, Blue is a looser, and seriously, I thought I would hate her. She started out a wasted space, lost girl, and when she finally got her ass in gear, she turned into a much better person and a likable character

I struggled a great deal with this book and almost didn't finish it. The concept was hugely appealing, what's not to like about a group of renegade heroes doing good from the shadows - with super powers! Unfortunately I struggled to like Blue, and her relationships with the others felt forced. I found the world to be one dimensional and lacking in background. I also felt like we felt we got to know the villain more than any other character.

Obviously this book clicked with plenty of people, whic
