Stryker has been looking forward to finding his fated mate for decades, but from the start, nothing goes as he’d dreamed. His mate refuses to even meet him, denying the mate bond without giving him a chance and actually running away to avoid hearing the vampire’s pleas.

Joseph sees humans who throw themselves at vampires as weak and stupid, and he has no intention of giving

A Hearts On Fire Review

3.5 HEARTS--"Chasing His Mate" is a first in the Year of the Moons series. It's my first time reading this author. Though this is the first in a series, it seems interconnected with other series. It felt like I dropped into the middle of story for a couple of the secondary characters but I was able to follow along. Mostly...

3.5 Stars for Joseph

Alright, so here's the deal with this one. I liked it, I really did. However, I did NOT know it was going to be all forkin' formal. Many of you know, I don't read stories that have appellations. One of the biggest reasons I don't read historical. I hate the Lord, Your Grace, Mi'lady, Your Highness, Prince, Princess, King, Queen, and all that other hierarchy bullsheep. But, I started it, so I had to finish this one. I just took out the words "my Lord" :) I hate the pretentious

I don't feel connected with the characters.
It's just...empty.

FIRST RE-READ 12 February 2016
I didn't finish the rest of this particular trilogy last summer, so I wanted to re-read this one to remind myself of Stryker's brothers before reading their stories.

It was delightful to get to visit Valladora again.

New Favorite Quotes:
"and I saw no other way to get out of the grave I'd dug myself."
"Not every hole is a grave."

"Life might've changed him, shown him a path back to you."

I'm still just completely in love with this world. It's
It was pretty good...a little bit of a downer bc 90% of the book was them being apart and therefore depressed. The last little bit when we got to see them together and happy it was nice. The "chase" is usually some ups and downs but we know that both people are wanting eachother but it just wasn't so clear here.

Marie Medina was born in northern New England and raised by her pale, mysterious godfather in a dark gothic mansion on the edge of her small, sleepy town. He didn’t turn out to be a Bronte hero or a vampire, as she thought when she was very young, but he is her best friend and the standard by which she measures all her heroes (and suitors). She has been writing since the age of eleven and has no ...more
