I was suitable intrigued by the title of this book, The Gentleman’s Folly, and was impressed in the way the author kept the intrigue and suspense going, while I was lured in further by passionate love scenes, a beautiful love story and an attempted kidnapping. Throughout all this was the positioning of wealth and poverty vying for attention. The author did a brilliant job of keeping my interest and keeping me guessing about the folly, when it was finally revealed, I was impressed. It was nothing ...more

This book is a great read. Zoey is in a loveless marriage to Jack and is unhappy. She soon begins searching for something more. Forced to begin her life again she moves into a house left to her by her grandmother. Through circumstance she meets a charming Englishman. Declan, is a fascinating and attractive character, that any woman would be happy to meet. At this point the book became a page turner as I wanted to find out what would happen to the two main characters. As for the folly you will ...more

This is a great little romance about a young British girl, Zoe who, confined to a sexually unsatisfying marriage to Jack, decides to divorce him. Zoe then moves back to Cornwall into the home that she inherited from her grandmother. After some time Zoe finds herself peniless and in need of money for food and locates an heirloom vase that belonged to her grandmother. She travels to an auction where she meets Declan Murphy, a solid hunk of a man who falls in love with her almost immediately. ...more

After leaving her husband, Zoey meets Declan when she needs someone the most. And while their initial encounter may not be a conventional one, they can't deny the chemistry between the two of them, and it leaves them both wanting to know each other better. But just when things seem too good to be true, Zoey's ex-husband tries to end her new found happiness by doing something that will leave you on your edge of your seat with the suspense it brings. I don't want to give too much away, so I'll ...more

I always love books which include one of my favourite counties, Cornwall. Zoey finally ends her loveless marriage to Jack and goes back to Cornwall to the house she inherited from her grandmother, finding an unexpected treasure there that she decides to sell at an auction when times become hard. She then goes on to meet the rich and handsome Declan at the auction who is everything a girl could ever want, but has one little flaw (his folly)......

Absolutely fascinating story full of twists and turns that make this a great read. Loved the characters and their interesting personalities. The story is very well written. The settings are intriguing as are the secrets revealed. I'll be looking out for more of this author's work.

Solange St. Brice is my alter ego. I do most of my writing under a different name, so there is not much to write here, other than to say, I love traveling, to Europe especially. I love London. I have a couple degrees but have since retired from full time work, although my writing keeps me very busy. I'm looking to adopt a dog; I have yet to decide on the breed. I live with my husband, who is my ...more
