Martin Edwards has written six Sherlock Holmes short stories in the style of Doyle in the usual diary notes of John Watson. In the process he has produced of collection that any fan of Holmes will enjoy and could not take exception to, for the author is a master in his own right of short stories and an aficionado of the golden age of crime fiction.

The new casebook contains many small cases that the main character(Sherlock Holmes)solved. Most of the cases were written from the perspective of the detective's assistant, John Watson. My least favorite case was the "Lion's Mane", for it wasn't exactly a crime, it was simply an accident caused by a deadly jellyfish. The main reason I like detective novels is because of it's intense plot of play, the way how crimes are always solved from smallest details also interests me. I recommend this book ...more

Excellent book!

Tremendously entertaining! It was easy for me to believe I was reading something Doyle actually wrote. I recommend this book for a fun, enjoyable read.

Martin Edwards was educated in Northwich and at Balliol College, Oxford University, taking a first class honours degree in law. He trained as a solicitor in Leeds and moved to Liverpool on qualifying in 1980. He published his first legal article at the age of 25 and become a partner in the firm of Mace and Jones in 1984.
