Brady, Annabel, Maria, Adrian. Four bright, sexy, nice-looking 20-somethings leading the high life at other people's expense. They have an interesting sideline too: abducting and terrifying young women and calling it "art." Except now they're in Crowby and—unless DCI Jacobson and DS Kerr can crack the case in time—Brady and company may soon be graduating to murder.

I think this string of two-star ratings show that when I read something different from what I normally read, it doesn't always work out. All these books I've been given for free, and they've been ok, for the most part, but not great. This one was quite weird for a crime novel - it was rather bland, nothing too exciting or glamorous. It felt a bit like reading a local newspaper, which isn't ideal for a crime "thriller"...

Iain McDowall grew up in the West of Scotland but lives in England. He was a university teacher before taking up writing. His Inspector Jacobson series has been praised by reviewers on both sides of the Atlantic. Iain has stated that he uses the crime novel as a scalpel to scrape away at hidden, darker aspects of modern life. His latest title is The Evil Thereof.
