And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day. Except for Larry, of course.

The Voice in My Ear opens with a plea from a senior academic to a deity he’s not sure actually exists. Browbeaten and clinically depressed after a lifetime of academic politics from his career in “voodoo science” (extraterrestrials living secret lives among us), the professor stumbles away from jeeri

Thank you to Ken Newman for sending me a copy of this book in exchange for a review.

When I first started reading this book I had no idea what to expect, from the blurb, it sounds so strange and I have only read a handful of books about the supernatural before, all of which have been completely different. This one is the most obscure of them all but probably the best.

I have to admit, a few pages in when I realised what the story was about I wasn't sure if it was going to be something I'd enjoy.

This is my review for the kindle version of The Voice in My Ear by Ken Newman.
Last year I read a previous book by Mr. Newman, The Ark, which read as if Quentin Tarantino had penned a Bible story. When I saw Newman had written another book I had to check it out!
Zack Cole is getting out of the hospital after miraculously surviving what should have been a fatal shooting. He discovers that his miraculous escape from death is due to a deal he made with a fallen angel named Larry. The price for his su

The Voice in My Ear is a paranormal, fantasy book that deals with ancient witches, demons and sort of angels. When Zack leaves hospital after a miraculous recovery, he discovers a strange tattoo in his back. This tattoo is more than just ink.

To make things short I will say that this ancient witch Layla, who is now trapped as this lovely skin mark, comes to Zack life to bring trouble. She is a crazy person. In her messed up mind she falls for him and tries to keep him for herself. Also, they have

I couldn't finish it. The idea for the story is a good one, don't get me wrong, but the story has to have a smoother flow in order to be enjoyed.
There were a lot of elements that while keeping the reader draped in mystery (which is usually desired to an extent) were confusing given what the synopsis tells us about the book. We don't even meet the characters mentioned in the Synopsis right away which had me struggling through the first chapter already because I had no idea if I was reading the r

Once I began reading this book I didn't want to put it down. Ken Newman's unique style of writing is fully engaging in mind and spirit. Highly recommended!

I received a free, signed copy of this book from the author in a Goodreads giveaway. This is a violent, supernatural, action story with many characteristics of noir: the main character is a working class guy who seems to suffer from bad luck and bad history with women, the setting comes across as a bit seedy, the reader hears a lot about the sex appeal of the two main female characters, and there's a fair amount of dialogue and banter. Early in the book I was very conscious what felt like ...more

Ken Newman has loved stories of the fantastic since listening to his grandmother's folk tales of witches and haints when he was a child. Devouring the works of Edgar Rice Burroughs, Ray Bradbury and Fredric Brown, to name a few, gave his imagination wings. Ken is the author of the paranormal thriller Forsaken and the newly released science fiction adventure Dead Ends, both released by Black Opal ...more
