Pretty good reader that accompanies Essentials of International Relations
by Karen A. Mingst. Covers a variety of perspectives and theories fairly well (could use more articles on realism by IR theorists such as Waltz, modern democratic peace theories like those by Christensen, and good decision-making theory work by theorists such as Allison). It does fall heavily short on decision-making theories that focus on bureaucratic models (hence a need for a theorist like Allison). There are als...more

It was a collection of essays on international relations. Some where informative and interesting, others were too long and convoluted to be enjoyable. Obviously important because these essays are the basis for a lot of political thought today.
Actually a very good textbook. With essential speeches and documents on politics from all time periods such as the Greek Wars, The Cold War, and our current Age of Terrorism. Contains all the essentials for students of politics.
this is a good complimentary book to the mingst book on IR. thankfully, this is a more upbeat read. good compilation of essays.
