Satu lagi selesai...

Setelah mempengaruhi pand...more

The last episode I read so far, the rest are still yet to be published. Oh I am soo curious!
This is where Siddharta started to teach the wisdom of this life in The Deer Park, with his first students were... the deer themselves! Those deer were listening and paying attentions to what Siddharta was conveying, as if they did know how to communicate in their languages. This is a very beautiful scene, to see Siddharta was sitting under a big tree and surrounded by the diligent deer.

In which Buddha begins to gather disciples (mostly deer, at this point), and Devadatta continues down his manipulative road, inciting war between two kingdoms and making use of Tatta as a pawn in his game. Buddha again takes something of a supporting role in this volume, though in the end many of the plot threads in the series thus far finally twine around him.

Good stuff, as is to be expected.

Another great one. It's interesting to see how Tezuka develops Buddha's character throughout these books. Each installment has him a bit more mature, maybe a different hairstyle, or no hair at all.

The story in the 5th book revolves as much around Tata and Migaila as well as the newly recruited giant/warrior Yatala.

The pictures are as astounding as ever, and the story is flawless.

One question I have though, how much of the story is drawn from the life of Budd...more

Sinopsis singkat: Buddha memberi ceramah pertamanya setelah ia tercerahkan.

Art: As expected.

Book ends on an interesting crossroad - Prince Crystal (of Kosala with Sudra mother)shamed by Buddha (he also saves his life), Thatta denied from killing Prince when he could, a vengeance (to avenge Chapra and his mother) that he lived for and Dhepa who had reviled Buddha, saved by transfusion of Buddha's own blood.

Eager to read more.

I really enjoy this tale. I cannot put it down once I pick it up; I have to read until I finish. Tezuka was truly a master. --From A Reader's Journal, by d r melbie.

My favorite of the series, I enjoyed the little vignettes that Buddha would tell the deer. It was moving. I was moved.

Working my way through. Finished 5. Some about the Buddha and a lot about others connected to him.

Enjoyable but not the best book of the series. Divine wisdom in manga is hot though. The illustrations were good but Tezuka's best work is still in the previous books, namely book 2. The ending was a bit anti-climatic as it's more of an introduction to book 6. Speaking of book 6, here I come...

More Buddha, more Tatta, more challenges to the ascetics. More anachronisms (purposeful, of course). More pushing the frame of comics (in one case, breaking it, as one character punches another through the panels). Only three more? Sad.
Dusty
The many, many plot threads that Tezuka set out in the first four books are becoming to come together now. Like one GIGANTIC episode of Desperate Housewives. I wish part six would arrive in the mail already!

Another great installment in Tezuka's eight part series. Unfortunately, it had been a while since I had read volume 4 so it took me a little while to get reacquainted with some of the peripheral stories again.

Tessa
Now that Buddha is Buddha, I've found a reading groove. He provides a welcome quiet center in the midst of the banditry and anachronistic jokes.

The God of Manga has done it again! Good pictures, nice story, clearly describes the life of Buddha and his spirit to bring peace on earth...
