absolute perfect example of the reactionary fiction of the generation del medio siglo in 1960s mexico, this novel uses some standard decadent tropes such as the prevalence of the "mirada" or glimpse, as the central means of skating over the superficiality of life among the purported intellectual class of mexico city during these years. Es un libro intenso y muy denso, se pierde todo lo erótico entre tantas reflexiones, la historia simple pero interesante.

Supuestamente perteneciente al género de novela erótica, esta novela se construye a partir de las entradas de los diarios de Gilberto y Paloma, presentando las percepciones íntimas, personales, de los protagonistas. A mí me pareció que la novela naufraga rápidamente en una larga serie de disgresiones personales, por lo tanto, aburrida y sin llegar a nada.
