This short story covers the Battle of King's Mountain, one of the turning points of the Revolutionary War. Walker tells the tale of the fight from the perspective of one of the Overmountain Men who fought on the Patriot side of the battle. The narrative is fast-paced, accessible, and exciting.

Since it's so brief, there's not much depth to it. King's Mountain was a short fight in the first place, and the reader doesn't get much in the way of background on Jethro (the main character) or the events
