O.K. I know, this is a cookbook. But it's really more than that. Reading and tasting these recipies are as close to experiencing the culture of Italy/Croatia as you will get without actually going there. This is the only cookbook I've ever read cover to cover. And even though I will probably never cure my own ham (Curing Prosciutto, pg 194.) the recipies I have tried have all been excellent.
