I love love love this series. This book had a lame storyline about the media (read it and you'll know what I'm talking about ) but I just can't get enough of these characters and this world. The writing is so good, the main character so believable and interesting, even the cheesier romance parts are fun to bite into. I <3 it!

Planning a wedding can sometimes drive a normal person insane. However, a wedding for Joanne can only be a recipe for disaster. Not only is Joanne a danger magnet, but everyone seems to want to prevent the wedding. The djinn don't want to stop it to make sure they cannot be bound as slaves again due to the vows David will make. Many wardens are against it due to lingering mistrust from the djinn attacks. But, the biggest danger might just be a new group called the Sentinels. They want the comple More...

Awalnya udah seru, secara David ngelamar Jo.
Pernikahan antara Djinn dan manusia [meskipun yang pernah jadi Djinn:] bukan hal sederhana.
Banyak yang ga setuju - well, paling tidak sih New Djinn setuju aja sama David - tapi Old Djinn dan para Warden ternyata ga terlalu suka.

Kemudian muncul The Sentinel, sebuah grup yang benci sama Djinn dan berniat memusnahkan spesies itu. Celakanya, dari cara kerjanya The Sentinel itu terdiri dari warden juga, entah masih aktif atau y More...

A nice step back up for the series after a so-so wrap-up of the last metaplot. The new story here is around how the four groups, the Wardens, their new-school counterparts the Ma'at, the djinn, and the new-school djinn led by protagonist Joanne's lover David, handle a new world-spanning threat, this time one that is completely invisible to djinn and targetted directly at Joanne and David first.

With the djinn unconvinced that the threat is real, and unable to help much even if they do More...

What a ride!!!
So I HAD to finish this book right away. I could NOT put it down. I finished it at 1:00 am.
I have to say this is my favorite one in the series (so far ;)). I can't wait to read the next one...
Joanne is such a lovable character. I want to be her. She is so bad ass. This book actually made my heart smile, made it break, and made it sigh in pleasure. This was sucha an emotional roller coaster and I loved every minute of it.
I'm also a HUGE Lewis fan. I can't ge More...

I really liked the Weather Wardens series way back when, but stopped reading because of the [insert adjective of choice here] cliffhanger endings, which I completely detest. Now that Rachel Caine's finished writing the series though, I decided to borrow GALE FORCE from the library and see whether I wanted to continue reading the books.

GALE FORCE was a quick read, but nothing out of the ordinary IMO. I like how Joanne and David's strong relationship was portrayed, but the story-tellin More...

There have been so many ups and downs in Joanne's life, so many that I don't know how one person can survive them all. And this book had some wonderfully happy moments, but there was also a lot of pain. And Joanne and David are in a situation now that looks like there might not be a way out or a happy ending. Definitely a series to keep me on the edge of my seat.

Gale Force is book 7 in the Weather Warden series and I would strongly recommend reading the series in order. I think if you tried to read this as a stand alone book you'd probably be missing too much of the back story to get the full enjoyment from the book. I'm really enjoying this series though so I'd definitely recommend checking it out starting with Ill Wind.

The story starts with Jo on a well deserved vacation - not that she actually wants to be there, she'd much rather be get More...

I enjoyed this book a lot, as I do all of hers. I was a little annoyed with the ending, it seemed a bit rushed and then just ended in the middle of things. Which is typical of Rachel but still seemed a bit sudden.

This is one of a series of books about the Weather Wardens... I love how imaginative the whole "alternate reality" is in these books where some people have supernatural powers of the elements and there are Djinn and Oracles that keep Mother Earth safe and happy. In this one, the Wardens are warring among themselves about the existence of the Djinn, and the Djinn are doing the same about one Warden in particular. The perfect storm for a powerful Demon to step in a wreak some havoc. I More...

ARGhh got half of my review written and hit the wrong key! All gone :(
So what was I saying?
Oh, its been almost 12 months since I finished Thin Air but finally my library got Gale Force and Cape Storm and I have begged them to put Total Eclipse on order.
The talents of the Weather Wardens and the Djinn are something different and lead into interesting situations with a neat balance of action and emotion. The world and the charcters evolve over the series and flow from one book to More...

Still loving the series. After 7 books, there's still no whining, still no "everyone's out to get me" vibe, still no forays off into side stories that detract from the big adventure(s).

This one seemed a bit sparse on explanations - where did the bad guy come from and how? Why do the Djinn have a blind spot (and why aren't they logical enough to admit it)? When is someone going seriously slap Ashan 'upside the head?

There's some mild and much appreciated comic More...

I swear, the fantastic books just keep on coming this year. No wonder I love urban fantasy so much. Every single UF book I've read is amazing! And now, I can add this one to the list. Of course, I never had any doubt. I absolutely adore this series. Rachel Caine rocks!

And, well, I don't think I need to say anymore. It was great, I loved it and can't wait for the other ones. But in the meantime, there are a few free short stories that I can check out.

Another Home Run!!!

I LOVE the Weather Warden Series.

Gale Force will blow your doors off. Joanne Baldwin finally agrees to marry her Djinn boyfriend, David (I want one!) and not everyone is happy about it. The Wardens are angry enough to target her with supernatural disasters to keep the wedding from happening, the Djinn are launching their own attacks against her to stop the ceremony, and somebody has found a way to kill the indestructible Djinn. Talk about one mother of More...

Joanne Baldwin is on a vacation and is thrilled when her Djinn lover, David, asks for her hand in marriage. Unfortunately, her happiness is short lived. While organizing for her wedding, an earthquake erupts in Florida and is caused by a mysterious black shard. David cannot help her because he still has his own war to battle between new Djinn and old. Meanwhile, the media is trying to hunt her down so Joanne can explain what the Weather Wardens are and how they do the things they do, exposing We More...

It took me a few days to read through Gale Force. I blame an abominable head cold more than the book. It was really good... too good to not read during the dizzies. I had to peck at it...very...slowly.

Rachel Caine has created a series rich in mythos and varying at every turn. That's one of the things that is so bloody brilliant about the Weather Warden books - that ever single one of them is very different. In Gale Force Joanne and David have made the the ultimate commitment to one a More...

This story was pretty good, until the end. I really dislike the hopeless endings Caine puts on these stories every now and again. This was one of them. In this story, the demon that put the mark on Joanne, the heroine, in a very early book, comes back and causes trouble for everybody. The djinn are quarreling amongst themselves. Joanne's love David has a new job that puts barriers up between them. And then everything goes straight to patooey. Stuff can get really bad in the middle of the book, b More...

I am not a writer but I can assume the skill to create characters and write about them one book at a time must be difficult. When reading Rachel Caine's Weather Warden series you can't help but want them to get better with each reading. The characters are great therefore the story should follow suit. I wish I could say that is what is happening with this series. What is really happening is the same story over and over again and with the first six books it was acceptable. With having put so More...

I just finished the 7th book in the Weather Warden series with mixed feelings. I still love Joanne and David and Lewis (sadly, not enough of Lewis this time...) and their whole crazy world, but I'm starting to feel antsy about the future of this series. I really don't want to start hating it, and I'm afraid I will if it doesn't wrap up soon. The formula is beginning to chafe, just a little; my willing suspense of disbelief rubbing up a bit too much against the doubt in the back of my mind tha More...

Joanne and David are taking some much needed time off when he suddenly proposes. In Gale Force, Joanne not only has to tackle wedding planning, but nosy reporters with information on the wardens, an organization called the Sentinels, those who oppose her planning to marry, and a mysterious but highly dangerous threat that the Djinn can't see or sense. In short, there is a lot of disasters Joanne must fight, as usual and the feel of this book is no different then the ones preceding it. 3.5/5 star More...

Oh, you poor souls who picked up Ill Wind and have read each book as it was released.
My favorites of urban fantasy: The Hallows, Sookie, Mercy, and now Weather Warden. Am I embarassed to say that I am seeing a big trend? Hell no! So all of the women are bitchy and the men run the gambit because there are just too many wonderful men to choose from:) Ahhh, who will win. Adam, Eric, David...David wins. Oh alright, a tie between Eric and David.
This is the perfect series for me. Tons of More...

Woah. WOAH. I think this is my favorite of the series. I audibly gasped at least three times while reading. I like that the explicit romantic aspects are pretty much non-existent at this point in the series (which isn't to say there's no romance), because I'm not sure it's really this author's strength. I really love this world that she's created, I'm LOVING the changes and the twists and who is character is becoming along the way. Even minor characters continue to develop with each book. The Weather Wardens is one of my favourite series from recent years. I like that it doesn't alway end with a tidy and easy wrap-up (easy for the characters to live with, that is).

I've been waiting ages for the library to get a copyof this in. So, I got it, devoured it, roared at the ending, and now I'm rabid for the next instalment. I might just have to buy the next one instead of waiting for the library.

Somehow I let too much time go by between Weather Wardens books. Probably because my library can be painfully slow about picking these up. Anyway, I devoured this installment but I do have to wonder:

If you took a shot, however small, each time Jo nearly died/practically did die, in this book alone, how long would it be until your liver waved a white flag in surrender?

This book is similar to the rest of the series. It's ok. I'm not all wow about it. I find that the relationships don't have enough tension and build up for my liking. Plus all the weather reports tend to bore me. I tend to skim more than read deeply with these books. The only reason I've gotten this far is curiosity of what happens, but not on a OMG I MUST READ level.

This is an amazing and very different UF series. Forget about the typical vampires, werewolves, etc and immerse yourself in a world where Mother Nature is more violent than anything you could possibly imagine and the only thing keeping her from destroying all of us is The Wardens, a group of people with a paranormal talent for controlling weather, earth, & fire.

More particularly, the series is about Joanne Baldwin, a Weather Warden and her "adventures". This book in partic More...

It's the first one of the series I don't like completely. Bad Bob motives to come back are a bit "fluffy" And all this "you had a mark so you have this scar and you can be mine" remember me how Dan Brown style of doing logical jumps from illogical basis.
Anyway it's quite an addictive series, and the book is quite good overall.
