This novel in the series focuses more on the romantic aspects between Amane and Hyoue, the major plotline of the story taking a back burner. If I see where this story is going the two aspects should tie in nicely, but I'm not yet convinced. However, I'm a sucker for romance in stories, especially the way this one plays out. Amane is oblivious and Hyoue is obvious and together they make an entertaining combo. I was hoping for a different ending to this novel, wishing Amane would do something fool ...more

Still an engaging story!

Absolved of the 'crimes' of last issue, Hyoue is beginning to believe Amane loves him but is too shy to say anything. Storywise, the four main kids of the story are visiting the countryside and run into a demon who appears to be a child. The demon child starts kidnapping children, under the influence of a god who has gone bad, so Amane and Hyoue need to both rescue the kids and show the little demon the error of his ways.

Series Review: He Majesty's Dog is a unique and entertaining manga that is well worth the read. It is funny and lighthearted while keeping a series plot. The characters are amazing as they each have very different personalities that work wonderful together. I definitely recommend giving this manga a try!

Pleasant and often amusing, with largely likable characters, but it's probably telling that I've almost forgotten the entire plot just a few hours after reading it. I feel like the series keeps circling over the same emotional ground, and whenever it inches forward, it takes the most predictable path.

Mick Takeuchi (竹内未来) has been making manga since 1994. Her breakout series was Ayakashihime Kurenai, published under Kadokawa’s Asuka imprint. In 2000, she began Joou-sama no Inu (Her Majesty’s Dog), her longest and most popular work. It started out as a part-time project, with quarterly chapters, but was so popular that after 2002, it ran monthly and was her sole project for a while.
