This was a decent read, but I'm really not sure who it's meant for. Most of the material in this book is material that is compiled from the manga, which means that if you're a fan of the manga and you've already read it (and own the volumes), then you've already read everything in here. If you're not a fan of the manga or haven't read the manga yet, you'll either be lost, or have the manga spoiled for you. Honestly, I really don't see much of a reason to check this out.

When I saw that this was coming out, I eagerly pre-ordered it at my bookstore. After all, a guidebook! To Genshiken! A book for otakus about a manga that is about & parodies the otaku culture! What fun!

Unfortunately, there isn't a whole lot in this that I didn't already see in the manga. There's not a lot of new information added to it. The new stories are all fanfiction & are only in text. There's also not a lot of artwork in the book that I haven't already seen elsewhere. The cards tha

i gave this a five star because of the series...not necessarily because this is a five star book. it is interesting because it gives some additional information that wasn't in the nine volume manga series. while i love this series but i doubt that most would because it is pretty hardcore japanese. if you enjoy manga and the culture of okaku japan then you would love this...if you don't know what i'm talking about then don't bother.

Shimoku Kio (木尾 士目) is a Japanese manga artist best known for his manga Genshiken, which was originally serialized in the Afternoon Magazine. It was later published in Japan by Kodansha, which produces Afternoon Magazine, and by Del Rey in the United States. Genshiken is an anime, manga, and light novel series about a college otaku club and its members.
