I'm so glad I bought this book -- a handbook of the paintings in the Frick Collection, located in New York City. I visited the collection in January 2012 -- paintings by Degas, Vermeer, Rembrandt, Renoir, plus many lesser known but no less wonderful artists -- all so much more powerful than they are when seen as prints or in a book. I am quite sure though, I had to pick my jaw up off the floor when I walked into a room and spotted the two Holbein portraits of Thomas More and Thomas Cromwell. It...more
