Shelves: canadian-fiction
Found this one on the Canada Reads list and then on gutenberg as it was written in the 1920s. I enjoyed it for its portrayal of people united by a life of communal work, hard work, on a small island. Motifs: the first school on the island, a dash of what might be the supernatural, a murder, an illiterate hero who wants to learn to read, a light house, and an ending worth reading toward.
