Cardcaptor Sakura, Volume 1 (Cardcaptor Sakura #1)

CLAMP
From CLAMP comes the engaging tale of Sakura, an average 4th grade girl, who accidentally finds an enchanted book called The Clow in her father's library. The book once contained a set of magical Clow Cards, but they all escaped while the guardian of the book fell asleep. Now, Sakura is thrust into a mystical journey to capture all the Clow Cards before they wreak chaos an...more

I finally got around to reading this (strangely enough I decided to do that after rewatching the first episode ever of Sailor Moon) and I must say I'm surprised at how different it is from the anime. I thought it wouldn't be that much, but even the same cards have different capturing plots. And it apparently wasn't Sakura's fault all the cards flew away in the first place. But I guess it's understandable that the manga would have a tighter plot and the anime would have more filler episodes. (I'v...more

the anime for this was on all the time when i was younger and i really enjoyed watching the show, but the manga differs from the anime a bit, which isn’t a bad thing. fist off, the first series is only 6 books, the second one is only six too, and this kind of surprised me at first because the anime had something like 50 episodes, and after reading the manga i saw how much filler was in the anime. the captures in the manga are all major cards (none of the cheap cards like the move card…) and the...more
Once you start this book, it is very obviously a shoujo manga. The costumes Sakura Kinomoto wears, the problems in her social life, her little chibi animal companion...it's all very girly. Sakura is in 4th grade, and it is her job to capture all of the 'Clow Cards'--powerful cards created by Clow Reed, a famous wizard. The Clow Cards have escaped the book they are housed in, and if they are not gathered back together, "Disaster will befall this world." So, every time something weird happens, for...more
Almost unbearably cute; definitely intended for a younger crowd than, say, X/1999. I like this mostly as backstory for Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle, which I love, as TRC features AU versions of CS's main characters. In the end, this series loses points from me for featuring my least favorite plot twist ever no less than 4 different times.
I'm an Anime Addict when I was in High school, but it all started when I was in grade school. I am always in a hurry to go home to watch the series.
The art is always amazing. I love how the character looks like. They are stunning.

I'm reading this because my best friend read it as a kid and I remember seeing some episodes of the anime on TV as a kid, but I couldn't remember much about the show other than its cuteness. My bff told me a lot about the effed up relationships/love interests and I was like.... wow, I don't remember any of that. I mean... they're like 10. And a teacher (view spoiler) his student!? That's just too frickin weird for words. Not to mention the lesbian-2nd-cousin-lo...more
My first exposure to Japanese manga (or at least the first manga book I've read in years!), and it was a good one! Very predictable, but I still enjoyed it, and might just finish the other 5 books in the Cardcaptor Sakura series. Cute illustrations, as is typical of Japanese manga and anime. And BTW, I learned that it is pronounced Mon-ga, not Mang-a. And this is specifically Shojo manga, meaning a girl story. Shojo manga is typically about a heroine striving for love and friendship (as opposed...more
This is one of the best manga of my childhood, I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE This Book SO MUCH!!! <3
This book gave me the freedom of imagination, and it helped developed many ideas for my own stories!! The story plot of this manga, to me and my friends, was also very good and interesting!
It puts together the magical realm together with the human world, it also goes through many stageds of life, school, friendship and love.
Would definitely recommend this manga or any written by CLAMP, their books e...more

This manga made my childhood. It's one of the very earlier shoujo manga I've ever read and comprehend (I read Sailor Moon when I was in KG but I couldn't understand a thing at that age, story-wise). It's very dreamy and fluffy, suitable for girls from 7 and above. It also introduces puppy love, and I find Sakura x Syaoran a very cute couple, but then there are some shounen-ai moments, like where Syaoran 'liked' Yukito at first and Touya and Yukito's intimate friendship. Nothing explicit, but it'...more
I loved this book. This manga was WAY better than the anime. Then again, when the anime is dubbed into English, they always lose a lot of their flavor. The main reason for this is because some of the topics are too sensitive for younger audiences. They also took a lot of Sakura's back story out of the anime, I'm told, to target more of a boy audience, seeing as that's the target audience of most anime that's dubbed into English.

I always like Cardcaptor Sakura. It may have magical-girl (mahou shoujo) as genre, but it's still different. Sakura is not your usual hero that directly says, "I'll save everyone and the world!". She collects the cards that contain power which wander randomly and act as they please before they cause some kinds of destructions.

I am loving this manga already! The anime used to be on all the time but I never got to watch it much. So, I thought it was not all that intresting(is that the spelling?). Then I decided right now after years to read it.

Review on the first three volumes.
This series is absolutely, ridiculously adorable, and the very definition of a Magical Girl series. The plot is rather simplistic so far as I read, but who cares? Of course, anything supernatural that happens involves a Clow card, so it might get tiring after repeatedly seeing the routing where the characters go "Oh no!Something strange is happening what do we do?!" and then "Oh! It's a Clow Card! How do we capture it?" The artwork is typical Clamp goodness (wit...more

This series is about a girl named Sakura, who becomes a "card capturer" of the cards that control magic. She must collect them all, and if she doesn't, the world will end. She makes friends and renews friendships, and realizes the true meaning of love.

Yet another installment to the CLAMP universe. (Or should I say multiverse?) Sakura Kinomoto is a normal fourth grade student. She lives with her older brother and father. One day she finds a strange book filled with these strange cards. She accidentally scatters the magical Clow Cards all over the place. The guardian beast of the seal, Keroborous, charges her with finding the cards, making her a cardcaptor. This series is one of CLAMP's cuter stories if I must say. The overall art is cute, the...more

When asked what my favorite manga-ka is, I'd have to say CLAMP without a moment's hesitation. When asked what my favorite manga by CLAMP is, though, I hesitate. It's so hard to narrow it down.
Ultimately, though, CCS is definitely in my top five. This manga is so damn charming. The main character is wonderful, delightful, and so strong, her supporting cast is memorable and beautiful. YAY for CLAMP!!! YAY for Girlpower(In CLAMP and the manga)!!! CCS is the reason i realized why people are crazy about manga/anime...Sakura and Syaoran 4ever!!! :)
Even then, i do have one complaint...why stop at just 5 volumes??? Why would you do this to me CLAMP why???
Back to the normal world; probably the only drawback anybody(girls) can find in this manga is that it is too short when it had so much potential...but then, the anime pretty much made up for that with 70 episodes and 2 movies...

Again, I encountered the anime of this series before reading the manga and I was pleased to see that they weren't so alike and so different from each other. Although I find the animation a bit 'sketchy' with all the lines going all around the page at times, I really fancy the story it presented.
Who wouldn't want to be in Sakura K's shoes- well, even though I'm in my early twenties, that point of view still didn't change. This is my favorite in my overall list of manga/anime.

The great thing about this series is that its innocence helps to bring up its complexity. The characters, their feelings, and their relationships are all glued together with this sense of innocence from the eyes of a child. Romances, for example are seen are presented in such a way ("the person you love most"), as if through a child. But at the same time, the complex nature of it shines through and makes this book just as fun for the older crowd as it is for children and preteens.
Well, yah sampai sekarang belum mendapatkannya :P
This rating and review are for all completed series.
Salah satu judul komik yang saya baca di awal karir menjadi otaku (halah) yang lainnya adalah Sailor Moon dan Doraemon (now, I haven't rated those, have I?). Mulai mengumpulkan manganya sejak kelas 4 SD dan tamat waktu saya kelas 6 SD, ah... rasanya sudah lama sekali waktu berlalu. *langsung merasa tua*
Well, anak SD mana yang nggak suka Cardcaptor Sakura? So nuff' said.

I remembered really liking Sakura, despite some... issues with later relationships. None of that is here in the first volume, though. Here it's pure, innocent fluff, which is what I always liked about it. The art is very, very cute, and the characters are very likeable. I like how straightforward the plot is (catch the cards!) and how we go straight into the action without an entire volume of backstory. I'll definitely continue re-reading the series. (Though I can't remember if I ever managed to...more

I've read the whole manga series, including Master of the Clow. I love this series and it is my favorite by CLAMP. Love the characters and the artwork as expected by CLAMP. The romance between Sakura and Syoran was sooooo cute and slow but it was all wrapped up in the end, a great series and adorable. <3 I own all the anime (excluding the movies because I broke it them by accident :'().
- I remember watching a few episodes of this Anime when I was little, so I decided to pick up the Manga.
- The first book was lots of fun. I loved meeting the characters. Sakura is such a fun character.
- There are a lot of parts where I laughed. Some of the panels made me laugh out loud. The illustrations are a riot!
- Speaking of illustrations, I loved how Watery looked!
- This is definitely more of a girl Manga.
- I liked that Sakura caught 3 cards in this one volume. If it was one card per volum...more

Not entirely sure how to review a manga book ... Ive been a fan of the anime for years, and the first four books have been sat on the shelf for a while. It's nice to get back into ccs after a break, and it's surprising how things are different between the anime and manga. I enjoyed reading the manga, and I'm looking forward to reading the rest of them :-)
