I can honestly say this is one of the most enjoyable books I've read in a long time.

Fifty-year-old Cynthia's deep yearning for a child becomes a distinct possibility, when she meets troubled teenager, Shannon. Cynthia puts a proposition to the girl, which Shannon takes full advantage of, as only a stroppy hormonal teenager could. The dialogue and growing understanding between this unlikely pair is believable and well-written.

I was taken on a rollercoaster of emotions, from lump in the throat sad

I can't tell you how much I enjoyed this book. It was a lot of fun and it was totally relatable for me. There were moments when I laughed out loud. Nancy writes in a realistic style that is totally believable. I became quite attached to her characters. As I saw the pages dwindling I found myself taking breaks to make it last longer. I think I will be visiting them again. Just What I Always Wanted

Cynthia Breault had worked for an accounting firm for 25 years. She had done her job diligently and lived conservatively. Now, at 50, she realized that she was bored. She had invested wisely and had enough money to take care of herself if she didn’t do anything too outlandish. She therefore quit her job and decided to change her lifestyle. She got rid of her “professional outfits” and went looking for a more carefree style. She happened upon a small shop that had interesting things but was not ...more

I galloped through this book. I've been reading the author's blog for quite a while, so I was eager to see how she'd make out with a novel. I was very glad to realise that I was going to enjoy it very much. The characters are engaging and the ending isn't what I expected, which made it even better. I would have given it 5 stars (excellent in its genre, which is women's mass market fiction, I think). But the large amounts of bad language from both the teen character (plausible) and the 50-year-old ...more

I did not want the story to end and when it did I missed everyone. The characters were captivating and I fell in love with all of them . I would have to put the book down to carry on with my day but I had to rush back to continue a few more chapters.
A great part of the book was read on the beach just me and my new found friends. When I finished reading the very last page I just had to sit back and absorb the story. I laughed and cried throughout the experience as I felt a connection to that worl

What a good story! Nancy Roman has created a main character about whom I'd like to read more. This story explores the mixed feelings that occur at midlife. What do you do when you think what you'd hoped for has galloped by? You attempt to recover.... And Cynthia Breault does. Unfortunately, decisions that benefit your own needs are often complicated by the needs of others.

Nancy Roman's first novel is an enjoyable read with good characters a wonderfully dysfunctional family and a few unexpected

I absolutely loved this book! Nancy Roman developed believable and relatable characters, that make the entire story fun to read from start to finish. This isn't one of those books you skim, instead you read for content, for dialog and for what happens next.

The story stuck with me. I laughed, cried a little and cheered for all of the characters. I hope Nancy writes another, I would love to know what happens next.

She writes a good story. Very clever dialogue. I wasn't crazy about the ending, but it was a "true" ending, not softened or romanticized.

If I wasn't a Mom of twin 2 year olds, I would have never put this down. I am itching for a follow-up to see how their lives continue. This book keeps you glued. Great first novel!!
