Arthur Penhaligon is a skateboarder (usually).

He also happens to be a Guardian, knighted by Excalibur.

It’s been a year since Arthur and his friends first met a shape-shifting cat and defeated the sinister Crow Man. But now, far below the Cornish hills the deep magic is stirring again, summoning Arthur’s rivals to the contest for Cornwall’s crown.

It’s time to get to grips w

In the great style of traditional summer holiday adventures, this time they're set in Cornwall, with a narrative tone similar to The Chronicles of Narnia and somewhat reminiscent of Alan Garner's Elidor.

Arthur, Nick, Tamar and Gawain are already aware that there's magic in the world (though Doctor Who fans may have a sticky moment), and being Guardians of Cornwall means they must stand together to overcome the enemy. In addition, there's time travel, Arthurian legends, pirates and even a dragon

I enjoyed slipping into another adventure with Arthur and his friends in the second Camelot Inheritance novel. This adventure follows the friends as they adjust to and embrace their new roles as the Guardians of Cornwall, both as a team and individually.
This book made me smile. I’m fascinated by relationships the characters form with the natural (and sometimes seemingly inanimate) world. I’m in love with the tiny, green stone dragon. The illustrations added just the right amount of whimsy. Also,

Morgan gives the reader a story that is crafted with care. Children read the legends of the Once and Future King, as the generations pass. The traditions live on from one generation to the next, and we are shaped by them. Morgan is a wordsmith. Long ago tales like this might be woven into an an epec like Beowulf, and recited in a mead hall. In the far distant future, will these tales live on, and the same songs be sung? But I degress, Bravo!

The Time Smugglers is the second book in the Camelot Inheritance series. It is written and illustrated by Rosie Morgan. It is loosely based on the King Arthur stories from Cornwall, UK. Rosie lives here with her husband and two cats. She was a teacher and is still teaching through her books. This book like book 1 is an excellent book. It was hard to put it down when it was time for bed. I will recommend both books to my middle school teacher friends and librarian. All students should have a ...more

Rosie Morgan has written another great book in the Camelot Inheritance series! The series mixes modern characters with characters right out of the Arthurian legends. It is not simply a re-telling of the legends of King Arthur. I think Arthur and his friends are great characters, and people you want to see succeed in their mission. The book picks up from where the last book left off. I felt there should have been a bit more back story in the beginning, but the reader catches up pretty quickly. ...more

‘Such a fantastic cover. The map in the front was excellent too. Now for the blurb. I liked the ‘On a Cornish path’ paragraph. It made me want to open the book.’ Boy, aged 13
‘I read The Golden Sword too but I actually thought this was better. Arthur Penhaligon has really grown up and is more interesting now. I loved the Wat

The Time Smugglers, written by Rosie Morgan, is a great book. Although the second book in a series, it can be read as a stand alone. There will be a third book in the series, by things hinted at in this book, but it doesn't leave you hanging, just wanting more. The four main characters are children, just kids. When they get hurt, they bleed. They get scared. They don't have super powers, but they are as brave as can be. They know what they have to do to save Cornwall and don't hesitate in ...more

After reading the first book in this series 'The Golden Sword', I just had to read this one and I was not disappointed. The main character "Arthur" is superb, he really develops a deeper status throughout 'The Time Smugglers' being the guardian of Cornwall. An adventurous journey with another story from Book 2 of good verses evil. In this tale, in order to separate the guardians, 'Tamar' is kidnapped.
Very humorous in parts, and dark in others with fast paced and energetic entertainment throughou

This is the second in a series of books set in Cornwall. The four protagonists, based on Arthur and his knights, are drawn into a secret parallel world where nothing is as it seems, and where the Crow Man and his colleagues are plotting vengeance and destruction. It’s a world where apparently ordinary people possess secret knowledge, and help comes from unexpected sources. Fast moving, dramatic and exciting, with pleasing pencil drawings placed throughout, and with a promise of further ...more

'The Time Smugglers' is an excellent sequel in 'The Camelot Inheritance' series. It's very much like the first book, full of action and humour. The many adventures of Arthur and his friends are very compelling and I can't wait for book 3.

Thanks to Rosie Morgan for sending me an ebook in exchange for an honest review.

My first thought is not kind: This author has no concept of how commas work. The higher Lexile on this series is in large part due to runon sentences that would benefit from the use of commas to separate the phrases and clauses. When she does use commas, they’re where a semi-colon is necessary.
So much for the highly technical part of this review.
As a fan of Arthurian myth and modern-day adaptations, I enjoyed the overall premise of this series. The narrative suffers from a lot of long descriptio

This is the second book in The Camelot Inheritance Series for middle grade children that takes the myths and legends of Arthur (that's King Arthur to you!) and gives it a modern twist. I loved it!

Arthur Penhaligon is a fantastic character. He is a young man with an amazing destiny - he is a Guardian of Cornwall. I really liked this character when I first met him in The Golden Sword. He has done a bit of growing up over the year, bu

The Time Smugglers finds the four guardians one year later, a bit older, but still uncertain of their role in the magical world that was revealed to them on the nighttime moors of Cornwall. In classic style, each guardian must face their fears alone, but with an amazing array of magical creatures and objects on their side, the impossible seems possible. Creatures, human, animal, and otherwise on both sides converge on a fictional Cornish seaside town as another stakes her claim for the Crown of ...more

This is the second book in this King Arthur inheritance series. Twelve year old Arthur has inherited the title of King Arthur and in this book, set a year after the first one, he and his companions, after a quiet year, have once again encountered magic and enemies and have to fight to survive. This book should be read after reading the first book. I think that children will enjoy it. I received this book free to review from Netgalley.

This book was okay. It is part of a series, and very short.
Perhaps because I hadn't read the preceding books, I found it hard to work out who was who, and what exactly was going on.
Nevertheless, I enjoyed it enough to keep reading. I loved the little dragon, everyone should have one of those in their pocket.
It's a great book for youngsters. Well written, and very descriptive, with exciting moments. I recommend starting from the beginning of the series.

Well... to start,I know that this is my book and, as such, I shouldn't be rating it.
BUT the rating reflects the absolute and complete joy it has been to write and illustrate 'The Time Smugglers'. It's been a ball.
