FOUR WORDS WOULD CHANGE HER LIFE...
Precious Rafferty is an American antiques dealer living in Paris. Though Precious--known as Preshy--lives in the world's most romantic city, she keeps her feet firmly on the ground. No man will ever sweep her off her feet. Until she meets Bennett James. He's perfect in every way. Is he too good to be true? Granted, she doesn't know much a

Love Elizabeth Adler but why anyone would name their heroine, Preshy, short for Precious, is beyond me. Almost couldn't read this book just because the name is stupid.

No meio desta confusão surge Sam Knigh

My first complaint is the heroine's name. Preshy, short for Precious. Who would give their heroine such a stupid name? My second complaint was Preshy's complete naivete. She's a 38 year old woman in the antiquities trade who falls for the smarmiest predator and within 2 months is talking marriage. Unbelievable. There were just too many implausible scenarios that just didn't work for this book. Of all the miserable characters, truthfully I liked Lily the best. Elizabeth Adler does a spectacular j ...more

I don't understand why this got such horrible reviews. I do agree that the heroines name is stupid, but that isn't a very good reason to hate the book. I read so many reviews stating they just couldn't stand reading the name "Precious" or her nickname "Preshy". Granted, the name is horrible and the author should have named her something else, but the reality of it is, she didn't. So just read the book and enjoy it for what the book is, an entertaining story. I personally really enjoyed the story ...more

Living in Paris, American antiques dealer Precious Rafferty learns that a cousin in Shanghai she's never met, Lily Song, has a family heirloom necklace for sale on the black market. But, others looking to make a profit are out to steal it for themselves. The two decide to meet in Venice to figure out who they can trust.

This was the first book that I read by Elizabeth Adler and I really liked it. I found it to be a fast read that was intriguing, suspenseful and included deception, a mystery, and

I always enjoy Elizabeth Adler's books, but I have to say this is the one it took me the longest to get in to.

Admittedly I listened to this book. I picked it up from the library after a frustrated hour of trying to find a book on my list that I wanted to read. It was a mystery, set abroad and written well. I loved the description of the settings and food. There was a bit too much romance in the book for my taste which I thought was unnecessary. The ending was silly with the main characters cat solving the mystery. *rolls eyes* But the story was intriguing enough for me to keep going, so it was pretty go ...more

Interessa-me sem

I was so excited to find an author I hadn't read before and was really looking forward to a quick and entertaining read. I should have stopped the moment I saw the name "Preshy" (short for Precious), but I saw it through to the end. Halfway decent story at first, but the writing is mediocre (at best) and frequently not even that good. By the last few chapters, the story pieces were coming together in the most outrageous and improbable ways, it had me rolling my eyes by the end. The good news is, ...more

It had it's moments!A slow starter, almost painful to get through the first dozen chapters (so I'm surprised I continued at all) and five typos in the first 58 pages (maybe I got a strange publication). The spine promised exquisite detail, which is my weakness. I want the visual, I want the words to paint the faces and locations in broad strokes and brilliant colors, but this one was a little much. Detail to a fault, know when to leave it to the reader's imagination otherwise it comes of as a jum ...more

Meet me in Venice is one of the books my school librarian stuffed in my hands to tell her about the book.I didn't have any expectations for this book,so it was not so bad.
The mystery in here was not actually a mystery. It was so predictable.I liked Lily's character, but not the others. The characters were so flat and boring.Adler had not realized the importance or a character's description,I think.
The end was a bit okay, but I figured it out way before I read it.Overall,it's not a bad book but not a

I think this was the weakest of any of the Elizabeth Adler books. None of her books are great literature, but most are at least fun love stories, with a little mystery thrown in, set in beautiful locations. Her description of these beautiful locations is usually reason enough to read her books. MEET ME IN VENICE does not meet any of my reasons for reading Adler. This one was supposed to be a REAL mystery, I think. But it was very uninteresting on all accounts.

Adler has created another engaging, character-driven romantic thriller that spans the globe. Makes a great beach read. Highly recommend.

This book was a pretty quick read. It was pretty predictable and the characters came across as a bit too naive even with the hard earned worldly life lessons they were described to have. I found it hard to relate to the characters. It was also frustrating when the main character switched half way through the book. A lot of movement through the book will keep you on your toes but ultimately a let down of anticipation.
Laura
I was a little disappointed in this Adler book. I didn't care for any of the main characters. Precious (Preshy) is completely naive and wishy washy (to match her name). Lily is dishonest and distant. Both male characters are unlikeable. I continued with the story to see it through. So, I gave it two stars because at least it held my attention for part of the time.

I chose this book because I was traveling and I like to read books about the places I'm going. This was fun and held my attention--basically a murder mystery. However, there were several crucial points at which the characters anda their actions seemed implausible. Still it was fun and I really liked the main character.

BEST I've read of Elizabeth Adler. I was drawn to it because I love Venice and expected some great scenes in that lovely city. I wasn't disappointed. In fact, it was more than I hoped for. The intrigue, the deception, the mystery, the complicated relationships in the book are Adler at her best. Loved it!

Laura
At first I didn't really like the author's tone because it was choppy and different than I am used to. Once I got past that it was a good book but pretty typical and easy to predict. The settings in China, Paris, and Venice were different and what made the book for me though.
