Cute, rhyming read with engaging and hilarious illustrations to boot. On that note, I can think of numerous other books that are a much cuter.

Summary: This book was cute but not my favorite. It was sorta dumb. It is about a boy who has a snake in his house and it gets lots. His family freaks out and everyone looks for it. When they find it they like it. I don't think I would put it in my classroom.
This reminded me of past pet snakes I've known, some that escaped, and others that bit. Fear of snakes seems natural to me. They are wil and unpredicatble creatures. However, understanding and respect seem to be the better treatment method. This was a fun story told in verse. I enjoyed it.
Fun to read aloud--of course, I love any book I can read with a southern accent! My five-year-old really gets a kick out of the family seeing Jake everywhere, but never finding him--especially when one of them thinks he's about to eat the snake!

Jake brings home a snake for a pet. The snake escapes. The family looks everywhere for it. When they can’t find it they take their blankets outside to sleep. They find the snake in the hammock because it prefers to be outside.
The funny faces and the scared family were a hit in this book! My girls could just imagine what it would be like to have a snake on the loose!

A hilarious story about a boy losing his pet snake and the chaos that ensues.
