A good continuation of the story, although I didn't enjoy the subplots of this as much as the last two.

Del Rey apparently dropped the ball on this volume, though, because throughout the entire book the art is horribly pixelated. I myself obsessing a bit over all of the jagged edges.

Not bad manga. I have read better. =)
This manga is one of the most interesting and unpredictable series I have ever read. I cannot find words to describe how good this series is. Once again, CLAMP has created a wonderful series that is just beautiful and just a lot of fun to love. XXXHolic is very unique and has an excellent character cast. I’ll admit that I think that this manga may be one of CLAMP’s finest. Maybe not the best but one of the better ones.

The thing that stands out about Holic is the setting. It’s a paranormal unive...more

XxxHolic Volume 3 by the CLAMP uses a humorous Valentine's day story to reintroduce the shared connection with Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle.

In Japan girls give chocolates to boys with the hopes of receiving something in return for White day. Watanuki desperately wants chocolate from Himawari but it looks like it's Dômeki who's getting it all.

Yûko for reasons revealed in Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle volume 5, suggests to Watanuki that he make his own chocolate to give to Himawari. But things go a...more

I'm finding I'm having the same issue with this series that I had with Ranma 1/2.... I really do like the series and the characters, but it just feels like the story is being dragged on and on to milk it for what it's worth... and for xxxHolic, it's only volume 4!! Everything that happened in this volume seemed pointless. And maybe there is a reason that'll come about in upcoming volumes, but I feel like a lot of this is just "We know we want this series to be long so we can make more mo...more
Another raucous adventure for Watanuki and company, this time exploring love-lorn ghosts and the power of words. Maybe not the most exciting of the stories so far, but still entertaining.
I liked the twins, and the way one binds oneself with words, the way one defines oneself and then is trapped within the definition.
This is one strange manga, even for clamp standards. In order to avoid the weird spirits plaguing him Watakuni has made a deal to work with a mysterious and spoiled witch. This manga ranged from comedy scenarios of Watanuki in ability to get Mokona to be interested in him (she is interested in the popular and disinterested classmate) or the chores he does for the witch Yuko and her shop-mates, to mystically based problems that Yuko most help him solve. While the story is strange and sometimes ev...more

Loving this series. I've seen the anime, but for some reason the manga makes it a lot easier to understand why Doumeki drives Watanuki nuts. And weirdly enough it's also easier to ship them together. Go figure.

I like Watanuki's straightforward behavior. He spazzes out a lot but his heart's always in the right place. I also enjoyed reading the bittersweet flashback of his childhood friend.

And, of course, Yuko makes lushes cool. lol.

This series keeps getting better as it goes on. I loved the story featured in this volume about a pair of twin sisters and the power of words. I was surprised by the ending, and I didn't missed on the powerful message on the story. Also, it may be a sign that I am getting sucked in, but I found myself laughing out aloud more. I am not sure whether the humor got better or I just finally got it. This is my favorite volume thus far.
It's Valentine's Day and while Domeki is showered with chocolates and cards from girls, Watanuki receives none. To make matters worse, he must also the ususla chores of Yuko, which includes making chocolate cake for her and Mokoona, as well as the treats his boss wants to give away as gifts. but when Watanuki disocvers he has s shy and secret admirer who is not quite human, he finds that chocolatees can be more sweet than just sweets.
This volume's theme is mostly the binding power of words. Watanuki and Doumeki double date with a set college-age twins and help them out. There's Vday and Wday funnies and cutes. Lots of hilarity surrounding Watanuki's envy of Doumeki and Doumeki's cavalier attitude toward Watanuki and anything he cooks. Zashikiwarashi makes her first appearance of many if the anime is anything to judge by.

CLAMP, xxxHolic vol. 4 (Del Rey, 2004)

xxxHolic is starting to get interesting, with the relationship between Watanuki and Domeki solidifying (at least, in its instability). Good storyline about twin sisters that's the first truly memorable story in the batch. Enough to keep me going with the series, at least. ***
Loved the whole series. Clamp creates beautiful visuals and beautiful writing. A must read series for Clamp, manga, and fantasy fans.
I can say I really really loved this one. The word bound story and the hand it was creative and I gotta say I loved the Ghost whisperer feeling of it. Also not to forget the extra birthday chapter story which was really amazing.
First time I enjoy an XXXHolIC volume like that.

I get way too into my manga, and this is definitely one that made me laugh out loud (in other words, you'll probably smile when you read this one. Perhaps utter a chuckle).

I've begun to watch the anime as well. It's fun to compare ^-^
In some cases this is starting to follow the anime so much so that I find myself skipping over until I stumble upon something different.

Still a good series, but it just didn't change it up enough for me.
I love this book because it is all about fantasy, and I'm the that type of person that likes them. Some of the stories they show in there are prety strange, but i love it.
I really liked the idea of how words can bind, not only yourself, but also other people around you. It cracks me up that Kimihiro Watanuki spends most of his time yelling.
July 2013 - Another set of interesting stories. Moral? No regrets, it's always worth trying, and words can hurt if you let them. Yippee for crossover fun!

Another great manga in this series. I can't wait to find out what the hand coming out of the ground is in the next one.
[Ch. 37-48]

This one was another good volume. Not very action packed but I liked the story about the twins.
