Forgoing high drama and dysfunctional elements, Angel Falls takes a conservative approach and focuses on a simple, yet profound issue that is still deeply moving and emotional. Thus, begins the story of a couple who learn what love truly means, and deciding whether it is enough.

Set in Angel Falls, a geographically appealing, small anonymous town where the people are the heart of the community. It is a place where everyone knows everyone and where families are raised. It is also a pl More...

Angel Falls was a challenging book to write at the time. In it, the heroine is in a coma for most of the story, and while she in unconscious, she remains central to the plot. This book was, in simplest terms, a love triangle. That was the surface story, at least. But what I really loved about it, was that it examined two completely different kinds of love, and reminded the reader that a woman can be in love with two different men in her life…and that ultimately, a choice has to be made. For Mich More...

This book was heartbreaking, and frustrating. Kristin Hannah is a gifted writer. Angel Falls is the story of Mikaela Campbell. She's a wife and mother and ends up in a coma after an accident. While she's in the coma, her family does everything to try to wake her up, but nothing works until her husband Liam discovers the identity of her first husband, a famous Hollywood actor, Julian True. It's his name that Mikaela responds too and as a result, Liam contacts Julian in the hopes that he can More...

An older title, published in 2000, I actually read the pb version but I don't think that's a big deal.

I really wanted to like this book. I had never read Kristin Hannah's work before. It was a fast read because I wanted to see how it all turned out. However, I found it meandering and repetitive when the characters went into their own versions of what was going on in their lives. I skipped though much of those parts when I was reading things I'd already read previously. I found Mikaela' More...

As a forewarning, my reviews are more for me than being helpful to someone else. I'm not one for romance novels, which is exactly what this is, but it ended up being one of those books that came at the right time and the right place. The overall theme is finally letting go of someone that you waited years for -- someone that you held up above the world -- and being able to see that person for who they are; not that someone worth being the benchmark for all your other relationships. I have that s More...

I was cautious to pursue another Kristin Hannah book, after listening to an audio CD of Firefly Lane, which made me bawl like a little baby. I wasn't up for that kind of emotional wringer.

But this one intrigued me. A woman goes into a coma, and her husband finds out about the past she hasn't wanted to talk about with him. Not only was her first husband handsome and charming, he's arguably the most famous actor in Hollywood (the fictional Julian True).

It didn't sound ha More...

This author is highly recommended on goodreads, so I gave it a try. Mikela is a loving wife with two children and suffers a horrible accident that leaves her in a coma. Her husband who is a doctor understands she may never wake up but he never gives up hope. He talks to her, brings her favorite items and has the kids visit. One day he discovers a link to her past and it shocks him. This is where the story gave me pause, it was too easy to reach her past and have her first husband come to see he More...

This is my second Kristin Hannah book (I've read "winter garden"). I would not say that it is as good as wittier garden, but it had me choked up and blurry eyed a couple of times.

Mike finds herself in a coma after she falls off her horse. Her husband Liam is left holding their family together and doing everything he can to keep his faith/hope up that Mike will come out of the coma. However, in an attempt to get Mike back he has to unravel his wides future and the little secr More...

Angel Falls was just my kind of book. An easy LifeTime-Movie-Like read good for a quiet Saturday night. And that's exactly when I read it, pretty much the whole way through and finished at 4 in the morning. Kristin Hannah is one of my favorite authors because you can so easily picture every story she creates. You put yourself in her character's shoes and it's so easy to follow along. Unlike most of her other books I've read Angel Falls is mostly from a male character's point of view. I lik More...

Normally I really enjoy Hannah's books. However this one really didn't do much for me. While the plot was good and it outlined a good story, you think the main character will be Mike and it ends up being the Liam and kids. While accidents can happen any time any place, I just had a hard time buying the "she was married to a major movie star" idea and had a child with him and he basically abandoned. I felt the story did touch on some major issues of love and commitment but it in a w More...

Mikaela Cambell has fallen off her horse and has suffered a traumatic brain injury and lies in a coma. Her husband, Liam, and children, Jacey and Bret, are praying for a miracle. Easy fast read, but could have been shorter and still good. Well- written otherwise. The focus is love, marriage, evolution of love, commitment, love of family life. A family is stressed by a dreadful horse jumping accident on their farm in rural Washington state that results in a head injury with coma. People realize they don't love each other the right way and upon that realization everything changes and choices have to be made. It's a small book, an even smaller tight look at one issue, a mom More...

Usually I love Kristin Hannah. I am a very loyal reader and once I find someone I gravitate toward I read as much of their work as I can.

This is my 5th or 6th Hannah book and I don't know if it's her or me but, she's slipping. The first book of her's that I read was "The Magic Hour" and I remember it being a profound, well written story and from then on I was hooked.

My biggest problem with this book is that it's not her typical storytelling, it was a virtual " More...

I really liked this book. I appreciated the love that Liam had for his wife Mikaela-- especially when she was still hoping that her 1st love, Julian, who was the Brad Pitt of Hollywood, would come back for her.

When she ended up in a coma, and she seemed to respond to Julian's name, I so admired the love that Liam had for his wife that he would risk inviting back the man that kept part of Mikaels reserved from Liam in the hopes that having Julian would wake her from her coma. The More...

Here is something profound.

"I missed you." "How was it that the profound simplicity of those words had the power to rock her world? Never again would you lose sight of what mattered, not for a day or an hour or even a minute. She would treasure every instant of her life from now on, for she knew something now, a deep truth that had eluded her all of her life. Love wasn't a great, burning bushfire that swept across your soul and charred you beyond recognition. More...

Mikaela, wife of Dr. Liam Campbell is injured in a riding accident. She is in a coma and not responding. Liam is by her side - talking, playing music, telling her the stories of their life but nothing is working. One day he discovers a pillow case from her past which tells him things that he never knew about his wife's first marriage. Deeply in love with her he encourages his mother-in-law to talk to her about her first marriage since it was her first husband's name which has caused the only More...

This book should be classified more as "inspirational romance" than romance. It is heavily tinged with Christian overtones and contains absolutely no steamy scenes.
Mikaela Campbell sustains a head injury in the first chapter and spends the majority of the book in a coma. Her husband of 10 years, Liam, and her children, Jacey (16) and Bret (9) share their memories with her trying to wake her up. When Liam discovers she was married before, to famous movie star Julian True, and that More...

How interesting this book is. The majority of the book describes the life of two children, Bret and Jacey, and a husband, Liam. They learn about comas, closed-head injury's, and their mother/wife's past. The central focus is on the person in the coma but how the family responds to it intrigues the reader. Add in drops of information about Mikaela who is in the coma then reveal her past that her family has no clue about and it is a tangled web of mystery. While I could read this book about a More...

I have become a HUGE Kristin Hannah fan. I know that this book was written 10 years ago. That being said, this was an OK book. Not my favorite, but a good romantic read.

I think we all think about our first loves, and Mike is no different. However, what she never planned on is having an accident on a horse, going into coma and her husband Liam finding out exactly who was her ex-husband. He knew she had been married, that is how Jacey came along. But he didn't know it was a famous movi More...

I had my misgivings about reading this book. You see the story is about a woman that falls from a horse and ends up in a coma. The story is how the family copes and also has a few episodes giving the reader an incite into the patient.
My family had just gone through an experience similiar and I was not sure I should try this. I enjoyed the book, understanding the family trials maybe a little more than I would have. I won't tell you the ending, but think the reader will learn a little More...

This is an excellent book. Very emotional read, but once started, hard to put down, and defintely worth the effort. This family of four lives in a small town in Washington state where everyone not only "knows your name" but honestly cares about you as well. The mother, "Mike" is married to Liam, who is a doctor and they have two kids - Jacey who's a 15 year old girl, and Bret who's 9. Mike is thrown from a horse, hits her head extremely hard and survives the accident, only to More...

This was a really good read. My favorite quote in this book:
"The measure of a man comes down to moments, spread out like dots of paint on the canvas of a life. Everything you were, everything you'll someday be, resides in the small, seemingly ordinary choices of everyday life.
Each decision seems as insignificant as a left turn on an unfamiliar road when you have no destination in mind. But the decisions accumulate until you realize one day that they've made you the man that you More...

Truly a 3 1/2 stare, this one gets to the meat of the story immediately. Mikaela Luna has been thrown from her horse, injured and fallen into a coma, her family must find a way to cling to hope and come to terms with the unfolding secrets she held within. Once again the setting is marvelously detailed and characters are so well developed that they become real. Yes, the tears flow as usual and lessons are learned. Love this author and her ability to reach into the heart.

An accident leads to a coma; she comes out of it when her first husband, a famous movie star, comes at the plea by her 2nd husband. Retrograde amnesia -- and she has no memories of the last 12 years, no memory of her 2nd husband or their son. Her 4-yo daughter is now 16 yo -- what will happen to the marriage. Not great literature but well written -- the plot is too "pat," but the love the 2nd husband has for her makes it worth putting up with the story.

This was the first book by Kristin Hannah that I read and I don't know if I was just in some weird mood or something but I cried practically the whole way through it. I literally kept a box of tissues beside me the whole time. The story was beautiful and heartbreaking and I really did enjoy it. Maybe I got so wrapped up in the lives of Mikaela and Liam and their kids that I just wasn't quite ready for the story to end when it did though.

I'm torn about this book. It was written over 10 years ago by Kristin Hannah (my fave author!) but it lacks the appeal that her most recent books do. It is mildly farfetched but Ms. Hannah knows how to make it not too over-the-top and mildly relatable.

As always this book focuses on trials and tribulations on the family bond and love. The main characters learned about themselves and grew on their new found knowledge of themselves and their loved ones.

Some things that both More...
