Suzanne Hansen spent a year working to care for the three children of Hollywood power player Michael Ovitz and his wife, Judy. Nearly 20 years later, she wrote her first book about the experience. In it, she writes of how the Ovitzes routinely neglected their children and mistreated their staff, as did their friends and neighbors in show biz.

Suzy Hansen graduated from high school adn had no idea what to do next. She didn't want to go to college and she definitely didn't want to hang aroun Cottage Grove, her tiny Oregon hometown. So on the advice of her guidance counselor, she heads to Portland and attends the Northwest Nanny Institute. After graduating at the top of her class she decides to head to Hollywood and try her hand at being a nanny to the stars. Her first job is with Michael Ovitz, THE most powerful man in Hollywood. Those interested in the inside workings of Hollywood, nannies
A young woman from Oregon graduates from nanny college and heads straight for the bright lights of Hollywood. This volume follows her through three nanny jobs for some big names in the Biz.
I enjoyed reading this book like I enjoy reading People magazine from time to time. It may be a little deeper than that, but not by much. The author is a decent writer, but not great. She is fairly honest about her experiences and her own actions and feelings during them. Interesting insight into the ...more

I found this book extremely frustrating. It reads as if the author is trying to settle the score by airing the dirty laundry of her old employer. While I do not condone all of the actions of her employers, the author sets her self up for failure by not dealing with basic employment matters (outlining job responsibilities, signing a contract, etc.) at the beginning. As her employment continues, she does nothing to remedy the situation and only complains about it. In contrast to The Nanny Diaries...more

Making myself finish this book was torturous! This woman has a chip on her shoulder the size of Plymouth Rock.
Her experiences in this book took place 20 years ago. The fact that a now, 40-something woman would feel the same way about things as she felt when she was 20ish, is sad. I'd think she'd have a more mature perspective on life. Not to mention that SHE DID ILLEGAL THINGS while at these individual's homes!

people who think Hollywood is cool...
You can tell that the author is holding back a little in this book not entirely telling her true feelings about the family. Nonetheless, a pretty good book giving you a glimpse into how shallow/stupid celebrities can be, and how it's so "suprising" when you find one that's actually nice. I'd say it's a little more about celebrities than it is about nannying; for a book more about nannying try The Nanny Diaries.

Read almost the entire book in one sitting at Barnes and Noble.
I picked this up because it looked like something related to how I've been feeling lately about the people in the community I work. I was right! If you've ever dealt with the super-wealthy this book will make you laugh! If you haven't, you probably won't believe these things really happen...they do.

I'll admit it, I enjoyed this book a lot! And to think I picked it up at the library because everything else was checked out. It should be renamed "Lifestyles of the Rich and oh so Cheap". Some of the stories are just baffling and will make you mad. But others will make you say, "yes, I just knew Sally Field was a nice person."

I really enjoyed this book, in fact I loved it. A very enlightening look at the super rich and the lives they lead behind closed doors. Well written and easy to read.Hilarious in parts it also had me royally pissed off at how the children were ignored and pushed off on the nanny. A very tough job!

I really like the voyeristic approach to celebrity life this book provides. The book is about the author's previous experience as a live in nanny for Mike Ovitz's (the infamous talent agent) children. If you like to laugh and enjoy getting celebrity scoop, check out this book.

This book was a good "cotton candy read," which I kind of needed. It was written by a woman from Cottage Grove, OR, who goes to Hollywood to become a nanny. She is young and inexperienced and lets her very rich and Hollywood-powerful clients walk all over her.

A quick read. An interesting insight into how Hollywood nannies are treated and how the rich and famous live. This is a true story about a woman who nannied for the rich and famous. She changes names, but you can totally figure out who she is writing about.

I especially loved this book because it's all true. It was so fun to see life as a hollywood nanny, and even more fun trying to figure out who was whom that she talked about. I've kept this book because I know I will want to read it again one day.

This was an interesting look at what it was like to be a nanny in Hollywood. It was a fast read and it made me wonder about nannies with other families, particularly as more and more middle class families are hiring nannies at least during the day.

Some what interesting altough I was not as inthraled with the Hollywoodness of it all like my friend who loaned it to me was. It took awhile for the nanny to get a backbone. Once she got some good people to work for it was more enjoyable.

Really had me thinking if I wanted to go "high profile" or not. Especially so when my of my cousin's friend had worked for one of the families in the book, as a tutor! (Granted she came on board when the kid was older...but crazy sticks!)

This was entertaining and made me wonder again why anyone would want to be a nanny. It takes a special type of person. It is very sad to think how many people have children just so they can fit a certain stereotype.

A Hollywood nanny tells of the trials and tribulations of working for a hotshot talent agent.
Sometimes a bit disjointed, but very engrossing. The ending is a bit abrupt, and the format is sometimes hard to read.

I liked this book but I didn't think it was great, I guess toward the end I got bored, but maybe that was my fault and not the book's. Definitely an interesting read, but I think I preferred the Nanny Diaries. :)

I wouldn't want to nanny in that town again if I had her experiences. Hollywood expose - btw, Danny DeVito was the nicest and Robin Williams first impregnanted then married his nanny according to the book.
