The Devil's Dream is a serial novel. This is Book One, Book Two will be released July 21st and Book 3 (Final Book) September 30th!

For the smartest man in the world, death doesn't have to be permanent. Not his own, anyway.

Another cryogenically-frozen prisoner has escaped, and there's a horrifying rumor going around that Matthew Brand has uploaded an exact copy of himself

I really didn't like this one near as much as the first.

The horror of it all didn't really stand out. Matthew Brand came across as crazy due to the science of it all, whereas, in the previous book he was a genius driven by revenge, committing horrendous acts. I missed that.

A Nightmare really had that middle-read syndrome feel to it. The story lost focus and the characters had changed so much that the previous connection we readers had was lost, if there ever was one. It seems there was a race t

Beers is excellent at portraying serial killer horror with a sci-fi twist. I can't wait to read Waking Up. Very well done.

Didn't enjoy this as much as the first. It's an interesting follow-on but without the sympathy for the bad guy. In the first novel the reader could totally identify with the reaction to a terrible loss. In this though, the reaction is more than extreme and is not at all linked to events but rather to a general hatred of humanity. Instead of a 'That's what I'd do.' it's more of a 'Why's he doing that?' It's also a bit of a swizz in that this is not a whole novel. It's advertised as the second in ...more

Well... I can't believe that (view spoiler) Sorry that was my first thought. Matthew continues on his journey.. but you ask how?? He's dead right??? Remember the House.. at the wall.. that the Dr and Allison were trying to crack.. they figured it out. A little too late. I was really sad to see what happened from the aftermath but Matthew keeps surprising me. I enjoyed this book better than the fir ...more

I have moved on to book #3. Have to see where the author is going with his plot. The first two books are filled twisted events that are evil in nature to say the least, I am driven to see how he ends the series. These are not for the faint of heart!

I was originally given a free or reduced copy of this book in exchange for an honest and impartial review. This has not influenced my review at all.

Good book, much better than book one. Great depiction of Matthew Brand's twisted thinking and hallucinations. A little short, but still worth reading. Enough background given to remind you of the main story started in part one. Only half a book really, requires reading book three to complete the story, whereas book one was near enough a standalone book.

Horrifying, but kept me going so I could finally get to know it will all end.
I didn't like the end though. Book one ended like any good horror story, but book two ended like Beers just wants you to rush out and get the 3rd book NOW!
Oh, well, he's gotta sell his series...

I really like this book but finished it in 4 days feeling that the book was short. Could have finished the series a sequel but it seemed shortened it for the trilogy.
Nethertheless. I am purchasing book 3 now.

I used to deliver pizza. I was pretty good at it, too. I mean, it's not that hard, but if I'm not going to brag, who is, right? Anyways, so I'm delivering pizza while I'm in college, and my boss has been in the pizza industry like six years. He's supposed to graduate from college this year, and I ask him, what are you going to do after college? We're all supposed to go out and conquer the world ...more
