So I'm in the mood for an Adult Contemp and came across this. I wasn't going to pick this up considering it's $10 on Amazon, but it had the trifecta that I can't say "no"to: British, tattooed, Rock God. **slaps hand on forhead**Groans... I have issues. Hope this is good...

Leí este libro hace un tiempo, y tengo que admitir que me encantó. Amé intensamente a Johnny (a pesar de que al principio me parecía que se pasaba de malo) y también amé intensamente a Christian (y quería que él y Meg salieran, ¡y lo hicieron!).

I'm such a sucker for stories like this. I'm sure that's pretty obvious now seeing as about half the books I've written about on here are about Movie Stars/Rock Stars. I just can't help it! Johnny Be Good is really no different from any celebrity centered books out there. The titular Johnny is your stereotypical Rock Star. He is the walking embodiment of the Rock and Roll lifestyle. Johnny Be Good is really no different from any celebrity centered books out there. The titular Johnny is your stereotypical Rock Star. He is the walking embodiment of the Rock and Roll lifestyle. He is constantly drinking, doing drugs and sleeping around with random women. He is also incredibly, drop dead gorgeous. Meg is a 24 year old Londoner who just flew to LA to become Johnny's new PA. Needless to say, after spending most of her waking hours with the Rock Star, she ends up falling for him. Johnny's behavior towards Meg is confusing and frustrating most of the time. He kisses her and then acts like nothing happened, he sleeps with her and then comes home with another woman. Despite all of this, Meg just couldn't get rid of her feelings for Johnny. To make things worse, she can't talk to anybody about it, not even her best friend back home in London because of the confidentiality agreement she signed when she started working for Johnny. The only other person she could talk to was Christian, Johnny's close friend since childhood. Christian was in town to write Johnny's biography and he pretty much figures out what's going on between Meg and his friend without Meg needing to tell him anything. It was pretty much obvious at this point that Christian had feelings for Meg, but he doesn't say a word to her even when he leaves to go back to London. Some time after, Meg, finally fed up with Johnny's behavior, decides to quit her job and goes back to London as well. She was half hoping that Johnny would stop her, but in the end he doesn't and she's heartbroken. Back in London, Meg moves back in with her best friend but her best friend already found a new roommate so Meg had to make do with the couch until she found her own place. She gets a job at an exclusive restaurant and one day while she was at work, Christian shows up. They catch up and Meg casually mentions that she's looking for a place. Christian offers to rent Meg the spare room at his place and so Meg ends up moving in with him. Eventually, Christian confesses to Meg that he has feelings for her and Meg realizes that while she still wasn't completely over Johnny, she also had feelings for Christian. They become a couple and soon Christian finishes the biography he was writing and flies back to LA to have Johnny read and approve it. He also tells Johnny that he and Meg are together. Johnny doesn't take the news well. He punches Christian and flies to London to see Meg. Johnny shows up at Meg and Christian's place in the middle of the night and tries to convince Meg to leave Christian and be with him instead. Meg refuses. Johnny tells her that he loves her and that he's willing to go to rehab for her. He tries to kiss her but she pushes him away and out of the front door. Before leaving, Johnny tells her that he's coming back for her after he gets out of rehab. Meg tried not to think about what Johnny said. She figured he was just drunk and he probably didn't mean it. To her surprise, Johnny shows up a few weeks later, freshly out of rehab. Again, he tries to get Meg to leave Christian and go back to LA with him. At this point, Meg realizes that while she still had feelings for Johnny, it was Christian she truly loved. She and Johnny make small talk and Johnny ends up kissing her. To her surprise, she found herself kissing him back and they end up having sex. She feels guilty afterwards and she kicks Johnny out. She couldn't bear the thought of leaving Christian and hurting him. Before he leaves, Johnny tells Meg that he will give her three months to decide. He will wait for her for three months and he will let her ago after that. Meg says okay and the book ends. There is an epilogue but I can't talk about it without spoiling the story more than I already have.
What can I say? I thoroughly loved this book! My feelings towards Meg is neutral. I liked her well enough but I wanted to smack her at times for letting Johnny get away with treating her badly. And Johnny, as much as I wanted to hate him for being a drunken womanizer, I just couldn't. Okay, so maybe I should cut Meg some slack. What the hell is with girls and our attraction to bad boys? So yeah, I do think Johnny is pretty hot, but through the whole book, I found myself leaning towards Christian. Sure he's not as rich or good looking, but he's a great guy. He's sweet, thoughtful and he's really good to Meg. Also, despite Johnny being a complete asshole to him at times, Christian remains a loyal friend to Johnny. That says a lot about him, in my opinion. I'm glad that at the end of the book, Meg realizes that Johnny isn't the guy for her. Sure he says he can change, but somehow I really find that hard to believe.
I really enjoyed reading this book. It's one of those books that despite being frustrating at times, you just can't help but keep reading. The ending wasn't quite as satisfying as I would have liked. It was pretty vague. But then again, the story isn't really over is it? We find out in the epilogue that the story is indeed far from over. There are bigger problems up ahead and I for one, can not wait to start reading the sequel. (less)

Really good book, I could hardly put it down!
Made life with a rock star (even though that's just pure fantasy) seem very real. She didn't gloss over the more unsavory parts of Johnny's life style (ex. detoxing, alcoholism, groupies, etc).
I felt a great deal of compassion for Meg. Although the logical side of my brain kept screaming, "GAH! RED FLAG! RED FLAG!" whenever Johnny would act like an asshole and purposely hurt Meg, take drugs, get piss-tank drunk, etc... my heart would remind me of wha...more

I was hooked on page 1, I love love love when HIM is a rock star … now if this was real life and I was Meg Stiles or she was a friend of mine I would say “RUN AWAY AS FAST AS YOU CAN” except I am an helpless romantic, I will probably stay thinking that I can change the man, no matter how bad things are.

I wish I could take back the £6 I paid for this rubbish, or else the precious time I wasted!

This book...how to review it? Well, for one: It was just plain stupid.

I picked up this book because I loved Lucy in The Sky and thought maybe her second novel would be just as great.

WRONG.

Although I did manage to finish the novel, it was a painful experience. I shouldn't have been picking at silly things as small as her instantaneously knowing how to drive on the right sude of the road, but the small began to add up and got really annoying. Eventually I found myself laughing out loud, not because something funny happened, but because the whole story was becoming a big joke.

The plot revolves around Meg, rockstar Johnny Jefferson new PA, and how she copes working with him and whatnot. Instead, all we got was a girl who started the job knowing jack all about Johnny Jefferson, prefering Kylie, to a girl who became borderline obsessed with him. The whole story was then a focus on her obsession, jealousy and constant description of how hot he is. I mean, everytime she'd describe something Johnny was doing wrong, that kept putting me off of him, the more she whined about wanting him. It just struck me as odd.

But what was weirder was Christian and the relationship that was, i assume, supposed to be building throughout the novel. It seemed rushed, it seemed out of place and it seemed like a convenient way for the author to throw in another male figure to piss Johnny off, an easy way to add a love triangle. So basically, for 90% of the novel we have Meg whining about how much she wants Johnny and then the last couple chapters she gets with Christian. Did anyone else find that absolutly ridiculous?

I hear that Paige Toon will be making a continuation of Johnny Be Good, what with a "cliffhangery" end that she had in this novel, but I for one might as well Wiki it to find out what happens.

This is the second book I have read by Paige Toon, the first being Lucy In The Sky.

I came across one of her books Chasing Daisy last week which I thoroughly enjoyed so when I stumbled across Johnny Be Good by Paige Toon I could walk past it. Meg Stiles is given the opportunity of a life time when she is offered a job to become a PA for a big rock star thing is she has to leave her life in England behind her and live in LA.
When she arrives in LA it is quite obvious her life is going to be somewhat different now. She finds herself at showbiz parties and top class gigs, could she be any further away from her old life back in England. Things are not as glamorous as it seems though as Meg finds herself falling for her boss the well known drug, drink and woman lover, Johnny Jefferson. Are his feelings the same as Megs and if not can she make him fall in love with her?

I enjoyed this book. I felt like it was on the same level as Chasing Daisy. Again with this book you warm instantly to the main character, Meg who is warm and caring and down to earth she feels like your typical girl next door. Johnny Jefferson's character is like a rollercoaster, one minute her is a typical selfish, bigheaded celebrity which made you dislike him especially the way he treats Meg and his friend Christian when he is like this, then the next minute his character seems to soften and come down to our level and you start to warm to him and feel a little sorry for him in parts but this is short lived!

There are many characters in this book but I do not find that this got confusing at any point. I also found that the chapters in this book are short which is a great help when you have only got time to read a few pages you can leave it at the end of a chapter.

The only thing I personally didn't like about this book is that the ending leaves us as the reader on a cliff hanger, we don't know what actually what the true outcome is and I do not like this in a book unless there is another book to come but I have heard nothing about a follow up book to this one. This book would have easily got a 5 star from me had the ending been tied up nicely but now I am left wondering what really happens!

This book would be great as a holiday read especially to those of you who love chick-lit style books.

Eigentlich hat Meg eine ordentliche Stelle bei einer Architektin. Aber ordentlich ist so ungefähr das Selbe wie nett. Wie kann sie da das super Angebot ablehnen, persönliche Assistentin des Rockstars Johnny Jefferson zu werden. Und auf geht´s nach LA. Meg ist total überwältigt von dem tollen Haus, dem Ausblick, ihrem Zimmer. Und auch die Haushälterin Rosa ist sehr freundlich. This book was an unusual read for me purely because I read its sequel first (I know, shock horror!), I bought Baby Be Mine without knowing it was a sequel and I just couldn’t wait to read it because I love Paige Toon books so much. Seeing as I had already read the sequel I obviously knew what the outcome of this book would be and I was curious to see if it would affect my enjoyment in any way…

Seeing as I had already read the sequel I obviously knew what the outcome of this book would be and I was curious to see if it would affect my enjoyment in any way…

Truthfully it did affect my enjoyment a little bit because the parts that would have been shocking just weren’t – I already knew that they were going to happen. So I would definitely recommend reading this book first so that you can fully enjoy the shock factor, particularly at the end!

Back to the storyline itself and I was quickly wrapped up in the authors familiar, fun writing style. Meg was about to start her new job as a celebrity PA and I could almost feel her excited nervousness rolling off the pages. I loved the first time that Meg met Johnny, it really had me chuckling as I pictured the scene. The whirlwind that was Johnny’s life soon caught up with Meg and there were definitely times when she seemed to be overwhelmed by it all.

Christian was a good friend of Johnny’s and ended up supporting Meg when she most needed it, I really liked his character and the three of them together made an entertaining trio – my favourite ‘trio’ moment was a scene where the guys (who were very drunk) ended up in Meg’s tree house and completely interrupted her peace with their antics!

Johnny was a complicated character and my feelings towards him changed throughout – rock-star Johnny was not nice at all, he was selfish and really irritated me but there were times, especially when he opened up about his life, that I saw a different more likeable side to him. This confused Meg as much as it did me and she found it difficult to control her growing feelings for him, the tour was where everything spiraled and Meg had to take drastic action.

I knew what was coming at the end but if I hadn’t known I would’ve gasped out loud in shock – it really was a brilliant ending!

This was an addictive read, I just couldn’t put it down and loved every minute of it.(less)

I bought this book as a joke, since I know someone with the name Johnny and found the title and concept hilarious. And it was on sale.
I read the reviews later on and was pretty excited about all the good reviews it got, my friend read it before me and she really loved it. So i couldn't wait to start.

Während die erste Zeit nicht wirklich stressig ist,gewöhnt sich Meg langsam an ihr neues Leben.Nach und nach erfährt sie was der Job mit sich bringt und wo sie sich reingestürzt hat.Sie lernt Johnny immer mehr und besser kennen und seinen Lebensstil.Dieser nicht gerade ihrem entspricht.

ALKOHOL,DROGEN und VIELE FRAUEN...

Meg versucht ihren Job so professionell wie möglich auszuüben.Aber ehe sie sich versieht,ist sie Johnny schon verfallen.

Ich habe das Buch regelrecht verschlungen.Gerade mal 2-3 Tage brauchte ich dafür.Was mich ziemlich traurig macht.Da ich wirklich die Welt um mich herum vergesse wenn ich Paige Toon Bücher lese.Meg ist wieder eine Person wie Lucy.Mit der man sich total identifizieren kann und mit der man wirklich mitfühlen kann.Ich bin ein großer Meg&Johnny Shipper,auch wenn ich weiß Johnny ist nicht gut für sie,würde ich mir wünschen das aus den beiden was für die Ewigkeit wird.Ich bin der Meinung Johnny kann gerettet werden,von der richtigen Frau.....und das ist meiner Meinung nach MEG!

Mich hatte das Buch wirklich sehr in den Banm gezogen.Mir sind zwischendurch sogar ein paar Tränen runtergekullert.
Vom Prolog bin ich übrigens sehr überrascht!!!Hätte ich nie gedacht!

Zu "Du bist mein Stern" wird es auch eine Fortsetzung geben.Diese ist allerdings noch nicht in Deutsch übersetzt worden.Ich kann einfach nicht abwarten und möchte wissen wie es weitergeht und bestelle mir deswegen die englische Version "Baby Be Mine".

Ich kann euch das Buch wirklich nur wärmstens empfehlen.Legt es euch alle zu!!!Ich werde mir alle Bücher von Paige Toon kaufen :)))(less)

I had bought my mother this book for Mother's Day last March after we had both enjoyed Paige Toon's 'Lucy in the Sky' so much. I've only now just got round to reading it when I stayed at my Mum's house for 5 nights.

I must say that being only eighteen, I am a huge fan of Paige Toons work and I constantly look for updates on her newest releases, even though they only come out on an annual basis. While I was in the library to pick up a book I took a reservation on, I saw this book on the table with books. The front got my attention and so did the words on the back, that is why I took it home with me.

First I read the other book, but when I started reading this one, I couldn’t stop reading. Ich liebe die Bücher von Paige Toon nach jeder Seite mehr...

"Du bist mein Stern" hatte ich mir gekauft weil ich unbedingt alle von ihr lesen wollte,
dabei hat mich nichts daran gereizt, nicht so wie bei den anderen.
So über einen Star zu lesen hat null Reiz für mich.

Aber ich bin überglücklich das ich es gelesen habe und ich konnte es auch absolut nicht aus der Hand legen.

Well I have read some of Paige Toons books and I have really enjoyed them.However with this book it was different because there were times during this book that I just wanted Meg to open her eyes which was frustrating at times but aside from that what I loved about this book (along with Paige Toon's other books) is that she manages to create believable and strong characters who you really grow to like during the course of the book. Bueno, vale, pense que iba a tener un buen rato con un
libro así. Lo tuve, ¿por qué mentir? ¡Pero no me esperaba
tantisimo drama! Aunque me gusto -soy masoquista, i know-.
La cosa es que odie-ame a Johnny, lo amé muchísimas veces, pero
el maldito desgraciado no dejaba de cargarla.

Así que lo mande todo a la mierda y me fui con Christian. Pero

This was the first book I read of Paige Toon.

I have a problem when it comes to reading my words get all muddled up and I get though 1 chapter and i think to myself this is to confusing i cant read any more!

This is complete different to the above sentence. I went to my local library and the cover stood out at me so I picked it up and had to read the back to see what it was about! I took it out and within the first 2 chapters I was hooked!

Wow. Wow. I've not been able to put this down, I've been so gripped. I loved it. The story was fantastic, the characters were great and there were times when it was genuinely unpredictable!

When we start Meg Stiles has just got a job working for the baddest boy in rock Johnny Jefferson. As I've mentioned before in some stories the main male character was meant to have a bad boy reputation and never lived up to it, however this one certainly did. When we start Meg Stiles has just got a job working for the baddest boy in rock Johnny Jefferson. As I've mentioned before in some stories the main male character was meant to have a bad boy reputation and never lived up to it, however this one certainly did. He frustrated me constantly but I just couldn't not like him, he was irresistible. I don't know how Meg had the patience to deal with him.

It was great to see a story where the outcome wasn't set from the beginning, I certainly wouldn't have thought it would have ended where it did. I was shocked when I read it which means I'm now desperate for the sequel to come out! I have my theories on it as everyone who has read the book does. Throughout the story there was a few mysteries about certain characters and my opinion changed on a couple constantly. I want to know what happened to a couple of characters as they didn't seem to come back up again, usually I'd mark a book down for this but knowing there's a sequel changes that as it's probably going to come up there to add more drama.

There were many times in the book when I was laughing out loud, especially when Christian and Meg were talking about sweets and things. Not only that but there were times when Johnny was drunk and he was quite amusing (however there were more times when he was drunk where he was extremely frustrating). It's been a long time since I've been able to pick up a book and not be able to put it down and find it simply perfect.

I've wanted to get my hands on this for a while because of all the good reviews I've seen about it and it just sounded like a book that I would enjoy. After reading Pictures Of Lily I had thoroughly enjoyed Paige Toon's writing. Now after reading a second book I'll definitely be reading more (starting with the sequel to this). This book is the type of book that I'll be reading again and again and again.

I'd like to thank Leah for bringing this book to my attention, it's now become one of my favourites and a must read!(less)

Paige Toon is a great author. I've read her other books and absolutely fell in love with the characters and the scenarios. This was NOT the case, however, for Johnny Be Good. Spoilers below!!

I loved this book so much! Funnily enough I'd actually read Baby be Mine first by accident!! I only found out when I'd nearly finished reading Baby be Mine that Johnny be Good is the first book. I didn't think it was a big deal reading Baby be Mine first, I mean obviously yes, your suppose to read number 1 and then number 2 but I like the way I had read it because it helped me appreciate what Johnny had become since the first book.

I read Chasing Daisy and really liked it, so I decided to read another of Paige Toon's and found this one. It was an easy read, quite a typical chick lit, an innocent female and a suave male character, but somehow this just didn't quite work for me. Too much was being written about how good looking Johnny is and how much Meg wanted him. The ending was anti-climax for me, in the end I don't really care for the outcome.
